Hey folks, do you know the rest of the Ashley Todd saga? (Ashley--the Prequel)
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/10/25/one-more-on-ashley-todd/

From the Post-Gazette:

Once she had told the story to police, "she told lie after lie and the situation compounded to where we are right now," said Lt. Kraus. He added that Ms. Todd showed no remorse for her actions but was angry with the media, saying they blew the story out of proportion.
...

Ms. Todd's job as a field representative for the College Republican National Committee brought her to Pittsburgh about two weeks ago to recruit college students. She had worked for the committee since August. Yesterday, the organization fired her.

Yeah I bet they fired her. But wait, there's more!

In March, Ms. Todd was asked to leave a grass-roots group of Ron Paul supporters in Brazos County, Texas, group leader Dustan Costine said. He said Ms. Todd posed as a supporter of former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and called the local Republican committee seeking information about its campaign strategies.

"She would call the opposing campaign and pretend she was on their campaign to get information," Mr. Costine said last night. "We had to remove her because of the tactics she displayed. After that we had nothing to do with her."

About a month earlier, he said, Ms. Todd sent an e-mail to the Ron Paul group saying her tires were slashed and that campaign paraphernalia had been stolen from her car because she supported Mr. Paul.

Stop there for a sec. she was too crazy for the Ron Paulians, I know PM regulars would appreciate that one. Also: has a pattern, but wait there's more!

...

On her MySpace profile, where her screen name is "Italian Pajamas," Ms. Todd gives her occupation as "Being a badass." Next to her picture, she references the title of a song by the group Panic at the Disco: "Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her cloths (sic) off," but adds to it "but its (sic) better if you do."

Among the books she lists as favorites: "The Scarlet Letter."

14. She's the future of the Republican Party
I suspect in 20-30 years, we'll be hearing stories of these incidents like we now hear stories of how Rove bugged his own candidate's office...

35. Exactly. And I'm not buying that she's mentally ill, either.
Just craven, opportunistic, and absolutely vicious. May she rot in jail.

15. Hi there. Welcome to DU.
I'm not sure she's padded-cell crazy, but she sure is personality-disorder crazy. Her kind tend to end up in & out of jail if they're poor, or married to Republicans if they come from money.

25. She's not crazy -- she's an agitator
She may be unbalanced to choose to make up stories like these.

But I think she's more of a political agitator than a nut case.

She makes up stories that smear the opposition, accusing them of using violence to suppress her political views that support another candidate. Now, that's a strategy -- a strategy to demonize the opposition and to stir up very bad feelings between opposing parties.

One hears them all the time from the ReThugs -- i.e anytime there is a protest march here (Pgh), there's always some soldier who claims someone spat on him. Every time. Yeah right -- every time we see a uniform, we just reflexively let the hockers fly at The Heroes. Check your local paper or LTTE and I am sure you will find other such accusations.

If you can call psychological "projection" insanity, then this falls under that category. ReThugs always accuse us of what they do to us -- I find it a useful tool to keep track of what they're up to.

In her case, what makes it so serious is that there was a racial element in it. Clearly, she was trying to demonize Obama by supporting the view that one of Obama's key constituencies are violent and hateful black males. Maybe it was just aimed at her College Republican friends (who have a very diluted "white power" ethos) as some kind of histrionic stunt to portray herself as a victim of violent blacks (who Obama is going to put in his Cabinet, they believe, to dispense tax dollars to lazy people on Welfare) ), but the fact is that it blew up into a national story and stoked the flames of racial hatred. It was an incident of crying fire in a crowded theater, which is why the police here are taking this case so seriously.

Although even reliable wackos like Michelle Malkin suspected her and have condemned her when the hoax was revealed, there is an even more irrational element in America who do not buy the story that it is a hoax. They believe that the Pgh Police, whose chief is a Black man, and whose spokeswoman is a Black female, are covering this "hate crime" up.

It may have been the final nail in the coffin of the McCain campaign, but it stirred up the s*** in times when extremism of all kinds is a threat to decent people everywhere.
