Last week at the GOP National Convention in New York City, president Bush stood on the graves of 3,000 9/11 victims and claimed he was more qualified to lead the fight against international terrorism than John Kerry. During the Cold War when the USSR blustered that way without offering tangible proof, we called it the "BIG LIE."

Sadly for our country and the thousandth GI about to die in Iraq, 60% of all adult Americans including many Democrats, according to the latest polls, believe Bush is a better military leader than Kerry -- again, without any empirical evidence presented.

...that the pilot who flew Shrub to the "mission accomplished" speech was the 1000th death?

I'm not sure this young pilot was in Iraq, but wouldn't it be ironic?

4. Scott has a few points, but...

... sadly, they're obscured by thin research and amateurish writing, and not enough new material to make a fully-fledged book of interest to the general public.

This book has been billed as having the goods on Bush with regard to a comprehensive review of regulations of his time in the TANG, and it isn't that.

But, I'll give him this--Scott has tried to write about the Bushes in a way that the mainstream investigative press should have done decades ago. If they had, there might not have been a Bush dynasty to contemplate today.

5. I talked to Hugh Scott last week

by email. I asked him what he thought his chances were of making an impact with media looking the other way.
He said he wrote this book mainly for "my children's children, that someday they will know the truth".

Gordon Liddys, Sean Hannities...the list goes on and on.

Rightwing Republicans feel just the opposite. Listen to Talk Radio or watch Fox News, substitute "Jews" for "liberals" and you will get a taste of what Nazi Germany was like before WWII.
