Obama is coming to Albuquerque on Saturday! How far in advance should
I show up? The event is at 7:00 p.m., and I'm going with my 20-year-old daughter and possibly another friend. How many hours in advance do we need to show up in order to get a view of him? My daughter was so excited that she called me on my cell when I was on the way home from work. She got the email, and I got the email...

How many hours in advance?

Please, please, please respond!

2. COMING TO ALBUQUERQUE? O NOES!
NM is supposed to be a solid blue state--so that means his internal polling sez he's up by only 2 points!

4. haha--
It's blue here, yes, and he's probably making one more trip to make sure it stays that way. He has little to worry about. ;-)

19. That makes sense, Frenchie. It's the same general area.
I am so excited I can't stand it! My daughter and I are starting to make plans, and she's beside herself. It's great that we can do this together. She's in school at UNM, works for UNM Press, and has a parking pass for the south lot--exactly where you'd want to park for the event!

15. Thank you. It'll be a long seven hours, but we can bring books,
food, etc. I have about three books that I need to finish. Also, we can take turns holding the place in line for bathroom breaks. ;-)

This is so exciting! So local!

I talked to a friend who volunteers at the Pueblo Center, and she said that the last time Obama was in town, he showed up there unannounced!

24. It was a beautiful Human experience, all of us together like that, so close and Happy.
It felt like being with Family on a Beautiful day.

We were at the WWI Memorial, no place to sit (except the ground, which was an interesting experience with all of those people towering around you) . . . all races, packed closely together in the security area. Everyone talking to one another, many children, many young parents with little babies, old folks too . . . When we finally broke up to leave, there were groups of people scattered around who had broken out in spontaneous dancing.

I will never forget.

16. well if you're going for brunch, a minute or 2 before...but if it's for lunch
anytime after noon. :D Seriously, if I didn't have to work or anything on that day....I'd be there really early. But I usually don't sleep past 5 or 6am anyway even if I have nothing to do but DU, make lunches and send the kids off to school by 7:40 am.

Have a good time and let us know how great it was.

26. It's a Saturday evening--perfect.
But that also means that there will be more competition for admittance. We will have a great time, I'm sure. I'm so proud of my daughter. She was so excited that she called me on my cell as soon as the email hit her in-box.

:hi:

Considering the population around here, do you think noon is a good idea? At this point in the race, I'm assuming people will be pouring in from Santa Fe and Las Lunas, etc.--maybe even Belen.

23. I think it's a great idea...
especially if you want a good seat at Johnson...I just can't spend an entire Saturday waiting unfortunately.

But, yea, I imagine there are going to be lots of folks from all over the area show up. It should be fun!

18. At 5pm.....maybe you can look thru the fence.
Or....maybe you can cheat and move-up in line. Remember, you have to find a parking space too!

32. FIND A WAY!
I live near the Pueblo Center, so it's not two blocks away, but it's close enough, and with Beanley's south lot permit, all should be fine. B-)

31. No! My brother gave me his excellent camera, so I want to
get close enough to use it. This is the first time my daughter will vote in a general presidential election, too, and she's very excited about it. She voted in the primaries. She's 20 years old.

35. I would get in line between 12 and 1 depending on the size of the venue
They'll probably start letting people in the gates/metal detectors around 2-3 hours prior to the actual program time. Going through security takes a long time.
