Wardrobe Mysteries Linger
By Michael Luo and Eric Wilson

About that wardrobe …

There are still aspects of the Republican National Committee’s shopping sprees on behalf of Gov. Sarah Palin and her family that are murky.

Some of the fashion experts consulted Wednesday, for instance, about the $150,000 in purchases that appeared on Federal Election Commission records were puzzled by where all of that money had gone, given what they had seen of Ms. Palin’s wardrobe.

Consider also the $4,902.45 charge at Atelier New York, a high-end men’s store, presumably for Ms. Palin’s husband, Todd, the famous First Dude.

Karlo Steel, an owner there, said he had gone through the store’s receipts for September, twice, and found no sales that matched that amount, nor any combination of sales that added up to the total. Because the store carries aggressively directional men’s wear, he caters to a small clientèle and knows most of his customers by name, as well as the history of their purchases.

16. I think it means something like "Fashion Forward"
So it's not really conservative clothing. If you look at at Atelier's website http://www.ateliernewyork.com/, I don't really see anything that would fit the First Dude or Repugs in general. Think wealthy rockstar's and hipster's who like black.

10. Did Karlo Steel confirm that someone made purchases for the Palin's at all?
That's what I'd like to know, if maybe someone else came in and purchased items for themselves, say maybe, Mrs. Palin's "stylist."

It seems like McCain* isn't the only one that's looking like more of the same. Ted Stevens anyone?

Have to submit a receipt to the GOP showing what they've bought?

15. Palin: "Okay, kids. We lost the election. Time to auction off your awesome new clothes and go home."

I'm sure Palin won't be happy to return her clothes. Nobody's mentioned how the kids are going to feel about handing back all their fancy new duds.

18. Jackets at 2500 to 5000 a pop, shoes at 1000 to 1500, bags at 2000 to 5000,
Evening gowns and jewelry...hey it could add up. And the "fashion forward" stuff, the guys don't wear that on camera. Toddy and the boys probably got their suits, shoes, shirts, oh yeah, and the ties at Neiman's. Throw in undies, nightwear and casual wear and you could be talking well over a hundred thousand. Cindy can wear that in one outfit, including jewelry, of course.

So they could have spent that much, but if they didn't....yeah, where did the money go? Unless they tried to launder the expenses so this would not come to light. Oh, the intrigue! The stupidity!

See there? Here you are kickin' up a fuss, and the matter is already closed.

Nothing to see here.

Move along.

23. Possible way for RNC to funnel money for robocalls, since money went to Larson?
I'm assuming the RNC can't legally fund robocalls that only focus on Obama, but maybe they can funnel some extra money to Larson, who got the money for the clothes, and is the robocaller in chief, through some creative clothing accounting?

25. That's some nice investigative reporting.
Perhaps the wardrobe is similar to the Palins' new house. Perhaps the money just got pocketed. It came from "friends" after all. Who keeps track of "gifts" from "friends?"

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.
