Her goose is cooked. The moose she field dressed is probably telling everyone how much he enjoys the karma Palin is reaping.

She will find a lot more ways to screw herself out of that one between now and then.

She's had her taste of "fame" and I bet she is really hard to live with after SNL. She will make a fool of herself many more times before 2012, mark my words.

There's a large segment out there who want someone running the government who is "just like me." They probably believe Palin got done in by the "liberal media" and was mocked for her "Christian views." The rabid fundie base loves her. Scary, I know.

17. No, the GOP has to see how she doesn't appeal to independents or women
But based on how this campaign is run, I doubt the GOP cares about what it takes to win, they are only interested in running smear campaigns and stealing elections, so by that standard they might thinks he has a chance. I hope that she tried to in 2016 against Hilary and we can kick her "folksy" ass all over again.

but she will do OK for herself because she'll ditch Taaahhhd, move to one of our anti-American big cities, find a filthy rich right-wing second husband who will treat her to a new $150K wardrobe every season, and makes lots of money giving "inspirational" talks to groups of imbeciles who will still think she is swell. But she won't be taken seriously as a candidate for office.

25. Yes. Her base loves her, and they will do anything they can do get her out there again in '12.
Expect an effort among fundies to register large amounts of new voters and young/first time voters within their enclaves over the next four years. I don't know how many of these crazies are out there, but they love this woman and disavow any criticism so vigilantly that they will do anything within their physical and spiritual means to give her another chance at the White House, although as President rather than VP.

30. Absolutely - and that is good news for us

She will start learning and gain more depth on national issues.

People in general will sympathize with her being 'thrown' in over head.

She will improve and people will have low expectations.

She will tour 2010 helping far right wing candidates in safe districts by helping them raise more money.

And she will get into a bitter battle with Romney and Hucklebee and they will all compete in trying to take the Republican Party even more to the right than it was before.

We should root her on and give her some money for encouragement.

Show up for the straw poll in Iowa, place third or fourth in Iowa and New Hampshire and drop out after the first Super Tuesday. She'll have enough $ backing to get that far, but will get pwnd once she has to actually try to separate herself from vastly more qualified candidates.

38. She'll run, scare the establishment, who'll flock to Huckabee
There's a very clear pattern historically for the GOP -- when the nomination is open, they often give it to the person who was runner-up last time around, even if that means the establishment has to cuddle up to someone they hated or tried to destroy previously.

Think McCain in '08
Bush I in '88
Reagan in '80

This time around, Romney and Huckabee were the runners-up. Palin will run, I think (assuming she can get reelected in Alaska), but she'd lose a 45-state landslide. The establishment will flip out and cozy up to Huckabee, who they were running from last year.

Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 03:21 PM by Two Sheds
This is how good Obama campaigns now. Think about him as an incumbent President with high job approval ratings. If he has that going for him, Romney and Bush and any other GOP "heavyweight" will sit 2012 out. That will make Palin viable. I say the GOP will have to throw the red (moose) meat that is Sarah Palin out there to keep their nut base happy with the party. The 2012 election will make Reagan v. Mondale look like Kennedy v. Nixon.

49. It is so naive, the comments on this thread. CB ain't going nowhere...
that is why after the election we have to make it our number one priority to make sure this woman is booted from the governor's mansion and never sees the inside of an elected office again including the inside of the Wasilla Town Hall.

In the next couple of years, if she is denied any election, state, local or otherwise, she will go on TV and this will keep her from being taken seriously ad finitum. But to think she is going to slink away after this defeat is naive at best......she is completely mired in self-adoration and false self confidence and as we all know from personal experience, whether in our personal or professional lives, these are the hardest types of people to defeat.

50. I would think not - but then who else does the Republican Party have?
They already hate McCain and will hate him even more after November. They hate Romney. They hate Rudy. They would hate any moderate Republican and I think when they become a real minority party they will get even more extreme. Unless the Republican Party really reinvents itself, a Palin-like creature will be out there, but there's no one else who has the charisma or following to lead them.
