1. You mean McCain is polling at 50 points? Or 50 points ahead
I'm guessing it's the former. McCain at 50% among youth is probably an outlier. McCain leading Obama among youth by 75-25 would REALLY be an outlier.

7. Yeah I saw that
They did put an asterisk next to it and say it was a small sample size.

But I don't trust this poll anyway -- the shifts they're talking about make no sense. Why would McCain have gone from an 11-point deficit among Catholics to a 9-point lead in 2 days?

17. That's so ludicrous it's not even funny
Obama had like 60% 18-24 year olds at the rally I went to in NH - they are excited about Obama and will vote in record numbers I predict.

3. HA! Very funny. No way will 18-24 year olds vote that way but the Rethugs need some poll
to cling on to, or maybe two with the AP. Enough so that they all don't jump off a bridge.

Contrary to every other poll?

What makes it bogus? The fact no other daily tracking poll shows it this close.

What makes it bogus? The fact McCain can surge from an 11-point deficit among Catholic voters to a 9-point lead in a matter of two days.

What makes it bogus? The fact he's killing Obama among 18-24.

If that doesn't make it bogus, you're not paying attention.

27. Yeah
There are like eight trackers out there with leads of one to twelve...

The mean is about six or seven...

Why would someone fixate on the poll that has it at one...

23. Honestly, that sound like something a Republican would say
No offense intended, but you really should look at the averages and wonder why some polls are at 12-14% ahead, and others at 1-2%. Use your brain before simply assuming - it's this twisted mindset that the Republicans WANT you to believe in.

8. ALL of the known right-leaning polls have Obama 44-48% - it's utter bullshit
These people's polls should NOT be used - they are manipulating the poll results and have NO credibilty whatsoever.

18. As well, the party breakdowns don't match up. Something is awry.
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 01:33 PM by slick8790
If Obama is ahead 84-8 with democrats, while McCain is up 86-5, and Obama leads indepedents 44-39, there is no way that there could be only a 1pt lead. There are simply too many more democrats than republicans for that to add up correctly.

*edit* As well, the conservative/moderate/liberal breakdown doesn't pass the smell test either. This is clearly a vast oversample of republicans.

Has anyone ever read a IBD editorial. It's the most right wing piece of crap out there. I wouldn't believe them if they had Obama up 10. But I look at it this way, maybe people will get nervous and realize that every vote counts. NO COMPLACENCY!!!

What the hell kind of numbers are those?

(
Or am I a mathematical moron? I solved simultaneously for
84d + 44i + 5r = 44.8
8d + 39i + 86r = 43.7
8d + 17i + 9r = 11.6

yielding

D = .32386
R = .31278
I = .36436
)
