Poll: Obama edges ahead of McCain in Montana

http://www.kxmc.com/News/288813.asp

HELENA, Mont. (AP) A new poll shows that Democrat Barack Obama could be edging ahead of Republican John McCain in Montana.

Obama is at 44 percent and John McCain is at 40 percent in the Montana State University-Billings poll released Thursday. The poll reverses others from earlier in the fall that showed McCain with a lead in the state.

The poll of 403 Montanans was conducted from Thursday though Monday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

Both Obama and McCain did a pretty good job in the poll of holding their party's base, but Obama held an advantage among self-described independents.

5. That MOE is way too high. I believe it will be close, but if I had to predict, McCain wins it.

12. It just shows you this will be a landslide.
Obama is getting blown out in only really conservative Republican states, while holding his own in the others.

I think we could see a 10+ point victory for Obama.

17. THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!
It might be close, but not if my family in Montana can help it.
If my birth-state goes blue, I will be crying tears of joy!
I KNOW Barack has votes from MY family!
They will be heard.
They are coming from Lewistown and Laurel. Glendive and Belt. Bozeman, Great Falls and Missoula too.
Yahoo.....We're Turning Montana Blue!!!

8. Obama may win or lose Montana

but the fact that it's this close 10 days from the election points to a landslide.

15. WAY TO GO MONTANA!!!
People are tired of the same old' game and the dirty, downright disgusting tactics that Grumpy McCain has been subjecting this country to this year.

There isn't a red state left that isn't going to be close. Mark it down.

This is incredible. We may get that landslide we all have been hoping for.

That could bleed a lot of puke votes in this independent minded state.

22. Whether Obama wins or loses Montana, this has GOT to be a blow to McCain*
when he sees these numbers in states he should easily be winning. Talk about discouraging. :)
