Another reason McCain is going for PA: Morale of his "troops"

He needs to be seen as being on the offense SOMEWHERE.

He has to pick a blue state and make it look like it is up for grabs. Hence the false rumor about Obama "internals" saying PA is only a 2-point race.

If he is seen as ONLY playing defense in red states, his base is demoralized.

He knows the race is lost... he's now just trying to keep everybody "fired up".


If they see him campaigning hard in NC or IN, they aren't going to be "fired up" much. Armies need to feel like their on the attack - at least SOMEWHERE.


PA is out of reach to McCain unless the machines get rigged.

1. Yes, except I don't think it's McCain who's doing the thinking there.

I really believe that's more advanced thinking than he's capable of.

It's actually savvy political thinking, and he's unable to do anything savvy.
