15. Yeah, Chi-town! Where else?
In a park named for a Republican president, yet.

The large public space between the Loop and lakeshore also hosted a papal visit in 1979 and a Chicago Bulls NBA championship celebration in 1991. It more routinely host open-air concerts, sporting events and the Taste of Chicago.

14. South area of the park.... Hutchison Field.
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 06:58 PM by kansasblue
Should it be Democrat Barack Obama, or should it be Republican Senator McCain, the Obama Campaign plans a major election night event here in Chicago, most likely at the south end of Grant Park on Hutchinson Field, in the shadow of the Chicago Skyline, and the Field Museum, along the Lakefront, downtown.

The specific agenda for the Election Night Gathering is not yet set. Nor has it been determined if tickets will be required for admission. Likely, security will be very tight, and gridlock in neighboring Chicago Loop streets - extreme.

Grant Park will likely be selected because of its sheer size - it can accommodate hundreds of thousands, if need be. Pope John Paul II celebrated mass here during his Chicago visit in 1979. The Chicago Bulls first Victory Rally, celebrating their 1991 Championship Season, was held here. Dozens of Music Concerts - from Classical, to Hard Rock - have been performed here.
