this is a GREAT day. Wife and I voted at a mall in Wake County NC - 3 PM,
polls nice and busy - a good steady 20-30 people in line, 20-30 people inside, lines refilling consistently...people smiling, no issues. Ballots are those that you fill in the little circles in black ink and load them into the scanning machine...I think we were voter 4300 or so.

Early voting - the way to go! Now we can help at Obama HQ on election day!

Felt so good to fill in that little Obama/Biden circle, little Hagan circle, and little Purdue circle!

1. That's great!

I'm glad you had no problems at the polls.

It does feel good to vote!

2. At least you guys have optical scanners.
In Guilford County we have to use the ES&S machines, but at least there is a paper tape that records each vote. I watched that thing like a hawk after reading what was going on with ES&S machines in WV! (Voted Monday.)

Then when you actually "submit" the ballot, it prints a bunch of bar codes on the paper tape that supposedly makes it easier to count them in the case of a recount/hand-count.

3. Hey, me too.
Voted in Charlotte. Touch screen machines, although there hasn't been much of an issue with them here. They seem to be working as they are supposed to.

I went to one early voting place, and the line was all the way out to the road -- plus there was scant parking. Then I tried a place a little farther out, and taadaa: plenty of parking and a shorter line. Of course, by the time I had finished voting the line was out the door, so I must have just timed it right.

Anyway, it feels good to have cast my vote, and be able to help out on 11/4.
