Why is this year different from all other years?
Because this year, more people than ever before have access to the web's alternative sources of news (i.e. the truth).

All the tactics the Rethugs have used for years to dupe voters and steal votes are still in play. But more people than ever before are on line and on to them.

It will take them a while to play "catch up" and try to impose their rules, regulations and CONTROL over the web. But if they can't succeed, if they can't control what we see, hear, read, post, and learn on the net, their control of information -- the core of their power -- is gone forever.

This is the nature of the next battle in the never ending war for our freedoms.

2. Not since 208 AD have we had a year that starts in "2" and ends in "8".
That was when an alliance of two southern warlords, Sun Quan and Liu Bei, defeated the much stronger northern warlord Cao Cao at Red Cliff on the Yangtze River. A good omen for parties not associated with "red". :)

3. I like the "good omen" -- "red" comparison. However,
the "two southern warlords" part conjures up the picture of a couple of guys in sheets and hoods standing in front of a burning cross.

I know that your historical reference had nothing to do with that. However, some, myself included, just have images in our minds that will never go away.
