My boyfriend was walking to work this morning because I have had a monster sinus infection this week. Until today I have been in bed for a few days.

Anyway - He was struck by a car while crossing the street (at an intersection crosswalk, using the button to change the light first, and all that). This was shortly before 6am, although I didn't know until 3 hours after it happened.

Currently he's waiting to go to surgery for a broken arm and a broken leg. A witness came to visit, and his description of what happened was horrific. We are all just SO lucky that he is alive. He will have to wear a neck brace for the next 2 months. He probably won't be able to work during that time.

I just wanted to ask you all for prayers/good thoughts/whatever you're inclined to send his way. It's going to be rough. But I'm so freaking grateful. It could have been so much worse. I don't even know if the lady who hit him has insurance.

I have a lot of phone calls to make but I will be back this evening hopefully. I just had to ask for help. I am so freaked out.

27. What state are you in? In CA we have a crime victims' compensation

that pays medical expenses and lost wages (to a point) for crime victims. I don't know if other states have the same thing. It gets paid into, not from taxes, but from penalties against criminals assessed by the courts. You definitely want the police involved.

So sorry to hear about this. It could have been even worse than it is.

55. Hi, all! Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Surgeries went smoothly last night. He will still stay in the hospital for several days. He's been very popular today, lots of visits and more coming. He won't be able to come home because we live upstairs, but we have lots of options. We have an attorney and all that good stuff now.

*whew* I am exhausted. :blush:

Thank you SO MUCH, everyone. It's been nice to carry DU with me through all this. Too bad I don't have a laptop.
