4. Well, there was a steady stream of people.
The scanner said that my vote was one of over 1,200 so far, which is pretty good turnout--this is not a big town and there are several early voting locations.

People did not seem especially excited or subdued. Most were on lunch breaks and in a hurry.

There were some Amendment 2 people outside, and I successfully resisted the urge to flip them off, which wasn't easy.

All in all, things seemed to be going very smoothly.

5. Everything was nice and smooth. Optical scanner machine.
We dumped the touch screens here not long ago, fortunately.

6. Same i will use here in west palm beach
what i want to know is, did the paper trail give you a result for the president you have selected? for example: did it show you voted for Obama once the paper was printed or scanned?

Just curious. I will be voting tomorrow in my local library tomorrow.

8. Nope, it just takes the ballot. I don't much like that either,
but it's better than the touch screen machines we used to have, which I trusted even less.

12. That is true. these machines are better
than the old ones.. however, i don't fully trust these either.. I hope when Obama wins he will take over all these crazy machines and implement paper ballots in every single state and give election day

7. Congrats! Question for you?
Did you use the same voting equipment as you would on Election Day? Is it the same experience voting early as voting on the day of? My brother goes to school in Miami and I think he should vote early but he's never voted in person before and my mom wanted him to have the experience...I'm afraid if he has to wait in a long line on Election Day he won't do it. What do you think? Is the experience any different voting early as opposed to voting on the day of?

9. It probably varies from place to place, and I am a long way from Miami,
but today I used the same equipment that we use on normal election days.

We used to have some touch screen machines scattered around the county, and those were used for early voting, but they are gone now.

I still think it's more fun voting on the appointed day with the crowds, but I will be working just about all day then, so this time I made an exception.

10. I have voted early before and it is the same
experience as the voting official date. Especially now that everyone is voting early and the lines are long. If you don't trust your brother of sticking it up and wait in line for more than two to three hours, i would suggest you tell him to vote early. This is what Obama has been saying, to go vote early because he knows how crazy it is going to be on election day, and he doesn't to lose votes by people walking out because the wait is three hours or more.

I lived in Miami and I know how that city is when it comes to elections and voting. Everyone goes out and vote. My mother in law, republican, voted yesterday for Obama and she lives in the suburbs of Miami, waited in line for almost two hours to vote. That will give you a hint how crazy it will be on election day.

14. I'm in Miami - just early-voted today
Early voting uses the exact same equipment as on Election day and gives the same experience. It was about a 2-hr wait today at the Coral Gables Library, but come election day it could easily be 5 or 6 hours in line. The paper ballot/optical scan system is a lot slower than the touch-screens were, so it takes longer to get each voter through the process. It'll definitely be faster to go now, and depending on which location your brother goes to, his wait may be shorter than mine was. Try and stress that the importance of voting outweighs the inconvenience of waiting in line, if you can.
