If/Then: If a Al-Queda really wants Obama to win Then Iraq is not...
the central front of the war on terror. You don't get it both ways. Either way John McCain loses this debate.

The McCain campaign is now charging that the terrorists want Obama to win, while pretending they're not really saying that.

The McCain campaign just held a curious conference call with reporters in which McCain advisers made the insinuation. It's a claim that's at odds with folks who know what they're talking about, such as journalist Ron Suskind and counter-terror big Richard Clarke, who have both written that Al Qaeda actually prefers pro-war GOP rule.

Aides to the Arizona senator said Wednesday that he continued to view success in Iraq as the best chance for victory in the global war on terror.

"As on many things, Senator Obama is not listening to our commanders, and Senator McCain is," says Kori Schake, a senior policy adviser to McCain. "General David Petraeus believes Iraq is the central front in the war on terror. Al Qaeda has even said it is."

1. Al-Qaeda thrives on war and conflict
so of course they want the pro-war GOP to win.

If Obama ushers in an era of peace and prosperity there's nothing in it for al-Qaeda.

2. Sure
I get that. It's just easier to use their own words against them.

I always wanted Obama to take on this point that McCain has said more than once in the debate.

McCain: "Osama Bin Ladin says the central front for the fight against the united states is Iraq."

Obama: "Why would we take troop placement advice from our enemies? I am sure this was taught at Annapolis. Perhaps you missed that lecture on your way to being 5th from the bottom of your class at the Naval Academy.”
