"Giving Clothes to Charity" IMPLIES "Palin NOT going to be next VP"
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 11:20 AM by RoadRage
Think about what the McCain camp just released in a quick idiotic response to "Wardrobe-Gate":

"We will be donating Gov. Palin's wardrobe to charity".

Huh. What do they plan on having her wear after she's the vice president? Is she going back to wearing this:

That's not very "Vice Presidential", is it? I mean, you would think they'd want to keep her in the $150,000 worth of outfits after she has the VP job and is meeting with world leaders on a daily basis.

In FACT, you'd think that they'd have to be spending MORE each month to buy her new clothes, because as the first female VP, she probably doesn't want to be photographed in the same outfit over & over again.. (ie "Oh, it's the 2nd Tuesday of the month, I bet Sarah's gonna wear the Green La Renta Suit Jacket again today when she meets with the Prime Minister). And, since she's not exactly rich (as she claims over and over again), the GOP is going to have to help her out with future wardrobe purchases. It just doesn't make sense to DONATE $150,000 worth of clothes and then run out and buy more for her, does it?

Wait.. unless.... GASP... they think that in 2 weeks she IS going back up to Alaska. 'Cause if she goes back to Alaska, well she could surely just go back to wearing this:

Jeez.. wow.. i mean, i can't quite grasp what the McCain campaign is even implying by suggesting that they're going to give all of her clothes to charity. It's somewhat mind-boggling.

Maybe even THEY realize that there is NO WAY IN HELL that Gov. Palin is going to be our next VP, and because of that, they can easily give all of her clothes to charity!

That's quite an unconscious admission from a campaign 2 weeks away from the election, dontcha' think?

1. You've got it all wrong, the plan once they win
is to continue to spend the tax payers money at a tune of $2.4 million over 4 years for a new wardrobe every three months.

2. This woman is a millionaire. Why can't she buy her own clothes?
How many suits did she get for $150,000? If I see that grey double-breasted again, I gonna hurl.

"Black slip dress, light columbia jacket and flip flops" Govenor look she has going on.

Wouldnt it count as a gift?

8. I don't know.. i'm sure there is some loophole
all ready for this. :eyes:

What they may do is have designers make the outfits.. but sell them to her at super low prices so she'll wear them and get the designers more business (think celebrities at red carpet events.. they don't pay for those dresses).

So, the $5,000 suit is sold to Palin for $99. :puke:

11. what it more likely implies is that they are covering their asses on the fly
We all know they never intended to donate those clothes. It's very polite of us to be sitting here with straight faces when we hear them say that.

They got busted and they had to come up with an out, toute suite. This is what happens when you don't plan ahead--and as we've all seen with the economy and with Iraq, failure to plan ahead is a specialty of Republicans.

14. Totally Agree...
But, i'd like to see someone ask them the very basic question: "If you donate Gov. Palin's clothes to charity, what will she wear as VP"? If her "Alaska" clothes aren't good enough for her to campaign in, why would they be good enough to wear as VP? Why would you donate the clothes if she's just going to have to go and buy more clothes?

Because it was a quick answer... they didn't think it through. They never were planning on giving the clothes away.. so this stupid reply just looks more idiotic.

15. I can't wait...
to see her next press conference as Governor... sometime in mid-Feb, while she's wearing one of the fantastic suits that cost $10,000 - and a reporter asks her "Gov. Palin, when is that suit going to be donated to charity?"

:)

17. Nah...she'll need new 'Vice Presidenty ' clothes
and those that cost a measly $150,000 won't be good enough for the VP x(

Whereas Joe Biden will probably buy a new tux for the inaugural....with his own money.

19. Gov. Palin will hold an auction to sell those clothes to her
Cult that would love to hang them in their closet & worship them. She will autograph each item so that they will be collector's items. After charging her state with Per Diem while she stayed at her own home & Travel Expenses that she shouldn't have charged to the state, it is logical that she would never just give away those expensive clothes.

25. Joe...in a tux.
Slapped myself. Okay, back from daydreaming. Does anyone remember if Geraldine Ferraro got a new wardrobe? She is the only other woman who was own a presidential ticket. What was wrong with Palin's wardrobe before? Never mind, those flip flops and jacket/dress combo was pretty bad. Still, $150,000 worth? Never buy clothes that expensive, look for some deals woman!

21. It strikes me that needy people don't need fancy clothes, they need cash.
Maybe they could auction off the clothes to their rabid supporters and give the proceeds to charity. Anyway the damage is done so I think they would be wise to just drop it.

28. I can explain how she can fix this and make money.
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 07:43 PM by TexasObserver
She gives the RNC a note for $150,000, payable upon the sale of her clothes.

She puts her clothes on ebay, with minimums which will pay the $150K.

She waits until they're sold.

The excess she receives is INCOME to her, and she pays income taxes on that amount, keeping the vast majority of such funds. If she sells the clothes for $300,000, she can make $150K, and buy a whole new batch of clothes, except this time, it's business investment, and her costs promoting her clothes by prancing around in them are deductible against her income from the earlier sales.

Truthfully, she could make out like a bandit with a little decent tax and business planning.

Hell, she can probably get Neiman Marcus and Saks to pay her to promote their lines.

Sarah Palin, Inc. is going to be a byproduct of this election. Look for it in the next few months, and bet on it happening and making money. She's got a following.
