Is there an agreement this year by the media to hold off results on election day
until the final state closes it's election sites? I'm finding it very hard to imagine the media holding back results from Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, New Hampshie and others while they wait for the west coast to close it's polls.

1. Was there last time? I don't remember.
Since voting has already begun in many states, I see less of a need to hold off.

2. I thought the agreement was to hold off projecting a "State winner"
until the last poll closed in THAT STATE, ie FL. panhandle is in CST, so they would not project a winner of Fl. until the last polls closed in CST.

Alaska's polls close at midnight Eastern, so this arrangement would effectively ruin the traditional election night coverage.

on edit: Polls in the western Aleutian islands actually close at 1 AM Eastern, but I don't think many people live out there.

7. there's a plan for an ambitious ferry operator
Charge people for a ride out to Little Diomede Island and give them a diploma from the Palin School of Foreign Policy upon their return.

6. They never wait for Alaska and Hawaii
They'll wait for CA, WA, and OR.

8. Florida and VA both close at like 7PM.
If Obama wins just one of them, he is almost certain to win.

9. They had better hold off this time.
We have a nazi to keep out of the governors mansion here in Washington state, and Californians need to kill that hate 8 thing. None of that "calling the election at 5:00" bullshit, I don't care if every state east of the Mississippi turns deep blue.

It would be nice if they could hold off until Alaska & Hawaii were done, but in addition to the time zones there, it's probably reasonable to assume Hawaii is "safe" for us and Alaska is for the Repukes.
