And I love to DU polls.

I think seeing huge margins of victory for Obama, or the liberal side of the poll in cases not focusing on the POTUS race, demoralizes the McCainiacs/conservatives.

PLUS, I strongly believe that undecideds can and often are influenced by things like this. Some may be contrarians, but I think most undecideds want to be on the team that's winning, so they wait until they have a pretty clear idea of the outcome and then jump on the winning bandwagon.
