Yesterday on RW radio...the sound bite of Obama saying "I may just be too awesome"
was played...my apologies...but I do not know who the "host" was...BUT...he used it as if it were Obama speaking seriously. That sound bite is from the Aurthur E. Smith dinner ROAST...

When I called the station to ask if I could speak with the "host" to inquire where the sound bite came from (knowing full well it was said in jest)....they hung up on me!!!!

Later, Sean Hannity had someone on that was disputing Republicans being in office and acting for the middle class. Sean went off on a spewing spree without interruptions...why? As the caller was finally allowed to talk...he ask "Why did you put me on mute?" Sean: So I could say what I wanted without you interrupting...and then hung up on the man!!!!

Fair and imbalanced talk! Alive and well in America!!! NOT

sick...

1. Also, I hear that serious journalist Bill O'Reilly has a bit of a bias as well...
:eyes: Why are you such a masochist?

3. I learned a lesson in this regard....

One of the things that has stuck in my brain (though there are many) is the image and sound of Bush in white tie, speaking at a podium, telling the wealthy audience members, "I call you my base." Can't recall the full quote, but many of you surely know what I'm talking about. I think Michael Moore used it in "Farenheit 9/11."

I just learned last week that this was taken from the same Arthur E. Smith Dinner that is held annually, the same that Obama and McCain spoke at (a kind DUer posted link below - it's HILARIOUS!), making the comments right-wing radio will distort and use for their own purpose such as the "I may be too awesome" comment.

I didn't realize Bush's comments were from a roast (even though they are true, it was a statement that would, in any other context, have been in poor taste and it has nagged at me for years), so that's a good lesson learned and I shall pay much closer attention to venues and type of event, etc. before getting all riled up.

Granted, right-wingers won't do the same. They'll take these Obama quotes out of context of the event and continue to whip themselves up into a frenzy. But that's why we are different. We think, we reason, we can admit when we're wrong and, most importantly, always strive to do better, to BE better.
