OK, what are the FIRST DAY priorities for an Obama Administration
The MOMENTS after Booshe was inaugurated, they began signing executive orders rescinding policies and laws passed by the Clinton administrations, 8 years of peace and prosperity down the dumper to 8 years of Terra and poverty.

What does he need to do? I have some ideas, let's hear yours.

1. Have Bush, Cheney & Rove taken to the Hague
then, get us the hell out of Iraq, then turn to domestic matters...

(all in the first hours of course!)

I think we've sadly seen the damage government deregulation can do.

8. Absolutely on global warming. That's critical.
Of course the others are priorities as well.

I DO, of course, want repeal of DADT. But I agree with Obama...I want to do it right. I want to make sure there's a SOLID consensus on this before he acts. I don't want a repeat of 1993.

I'd like to see fairly quick action on ENDA, the Matthew Shepard Act. The Obama Administration will have a solidly Democratic Congress to work with. These things are definitely doable.

12. Jimmy Carter on Obama's first 10 Minutes -
The emotional high point came when Carter seemed to be playing the fantasy game himself, offering the opening words of the speech the next president should deliver when he or she is inaugurated next January.

"When I'm the president of the United States," he intoned, the voice still strong, "My country will never again torture a prisoner. When I'm the president of the United States, we will never again attack another country unless our security is directly threatened. When I'm the president of the United States, human rights will be the foundation of our foreign policy." He went on in that vein, with ringing declarations on global warming, a promise to honour international agreements and to bring "security and peace to Israel and all its neighbours and treat them all on an equal basis." The audience thundered its applause, signalling that this was the American speech they yearned to hear. Carter insisted that a new president would not need a hundred days to change America's image in the world, just the "ten minutes" required to say those words.

VPOTUS SCHEDULE, JANUARY 20, 2009

Post-Inauguration

4:00 pm: Call maintenance to get some extra-strength cleaner to remove bloody pentagrams from desktop, ceiling and walls, remove vials of goat's blood from center desk drawer, empty wardrobe of black, robe-like garments, and try to convince waitstaff that no, no, they will not have to bring him a small child to devour each hour on the hour.

4:30 pm: Join POTUS for Intelligence/Security briefing, make snarky comments on how "fucked" the previous occupants made this place

5:30 pm: Attempt to leave WH, only to realize that he is the Vice President and can't exactly take Amtrak home anymore
