Marcia the pie lady
Local lady gets slice of political publicity pie
By MIKE HENDRICKS
The Kansas City Star

<skip>

Marcia the Pie Lady recently did something no one else seemed capable of doing:

Satisfy a presidential candidate’s pie obsession.

<skip>

Nobody was quite sure how to get sweet potato pie to Obama. Friday night became Saturday morning. Marcia the Pie Lady and the other regulars at the yellow table were still trying to figure out something when Sue Cunningham had an idea.

She and Jude would drop off a couple of pies at Obama’s Kansas City campaign headquarters.

<skip>

For about an hour, he made phone calls to voters — while eating pie, as the press pool report confirmed.

“I’m good,” Obama was overheard telling one voter over the phone, “because somebody just gave me some sweet potato pie.”

<skip>

Should CNN, Fox or The New York Times be looking for a fresh face to replace their old pal Joe, Prentiss authorized me to pass this along:

Marcia the Pie Lady is available.

7. If I want home made pie I have to do it myself
and easy as pie is a lie.

The only local restaurant that used to make their own pie no longer does so.
