DAMAGE CONTROL: McCain Camp says Palin Clothing to be Donated After Campaign
McCain Camp: Palin Clothing to be Donated After Campaign
Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Campaign spokesperson contends in a statement that it was always the intention to give the clothes to charity after the campaign.

Adds it's "remarkable" the media is spending time "talking about pantsuits and blouses" with the other important issues in this election.

Read statement here.

Comes after Politico reports the RNC seemingly shelled out $150,000 to clothe and accessorize Palin and her family since becoming McCain's veep.

can fantasize about having sex with Sarah while Cindy wears the clothes.

But considering that McCain probably met Tina Fey 2 years ago and possibly that is why he picked Sarah Palin as his VP he has urges for either Tina or Sarah. That would be plausible?

35. To be fair.. $250 isn't crazy for a stroller...
I think that's about what we paid for ours... and that was the "cheap" one compared to the Bugaboo ($800), and some of the Peg Preggo's that are over $1000.

If their biggest expenditure was a $250 stroller.. I don't think this would be a story. The problem is that the $250 stroller is the CHEAPEST item they've purchased for Palin since Sept...

I wonder how much it costs to get her hair done every other week... what, $1000 a pop? Rediculous.

45. True, but one of the points is, these people are already rich.
So why in god's name does the RNC spend money donated in good faith to buy all this stuff for them?

David Gergen was asked about this last night on Cooper's show, and he shook his head and said he'd never heard of anything like this.

That's just plain stealing from their donors.

Not that I mind that donations to McCain's campaign were spent on a baby. Better than using it on ad buys.

What, is there going to be a homeless woman walking around in Palin's Valentino? I guess they could auction it off...maybe Pat Buchanan types will bid on it..

And as someone else said, it's not that 150,000 dollars was spent...it's that it was the RNC's money, AND they paid for clothes for her family. Talk about a handout! Can't Palin pay for her own clothes?

The palin 150k on clothes, haircuts and make-up will be the big story Wednesday and into Thursday. Leno and Letterman are going to have a field day and the Palin/Fey SNL skit featuring a shopping trip to Neimans will write itself.

We have 13 days to go and the media is going to be focused on this story for 2-3 days

69. I noticed Hillary's clothes
at a recent rally she did for Bruce Lunsford in Kentucky. Since I was close enough to shake her hand, I can speak to it. As I recall, she had a nice, linen-y pantsuit that looked as if it wouldn't wrinkle (this was her second or third campaign stop of the day). Plain blouse, sensible tan close-toed, slingback shoes with a very low heel. She looked normal, neat, dapper and comfortable.

One point I wonder about: isn't it telling that the RNC has to, in effect, "teach" Palin how to dress... which in itself is another miserable failure, because she's still got up like a strumpet -- albeit a more expensive one.

I know I'm being catty, but I'm outraged at this Rethug bastardization of "Dress for Success" on our dime. I do, however, agree with other posters that her children should be able to keep the clothes given to them. (But if that redneck "dude" was the recipient of any of this largesse, his sporty duds should go back, as well.)
