1. No, I don't think you'll move many of those "other 42 percent."
They are, after all, conservatives. They're not interested in trying anything new...just tearing down anybody who is. So, if Barr, Nader, etc. get maybe 6 or 7 percent, and Palin/McCain gets 42, then that would leave Obama/Biden with, say, 52 percent? Pretty much where it already is by some polls. I'll settle for that. But I do have hope that at least a few of those moderate, old-school, non-NeoCon conservatives will finally see the light, as Powell and others have.

2. Shh! Keep it on the down-low - kinda like not mentioning the no-hitter to the pitcher.
;)

7. Some of them are jumping ship!
I was working in my local Obama headquarters where a woman came in yesterday to buy some bumper stickers and pins. She announced that she had been a life long Republican, her husband too, but they were both voting for Obama. Then I got a hug from her. That really made my day!

4. If the younger voters, who are predominantly on cell phones, come out to vote
my bet is 10 points more than any poll out there right now.

5. They are coming.
The Early Voting polling place at my small university has had 1300+ people vote since early voting started a week ago. The enrollment number is somewhere around 3500.

6. I hope you're right.
If the younger voters don't come out this time, when will they? If the minority voters--after the massive registrations efforts and with a true champion running for office--don't "get it done" this time, when will they? I'm hopeful of this, but until then I'm staying something like 52-42.
