Palin disgrace...

How dare Sarah Palin utter those words.

How dare she!

I'm a New Yorker, dammit! I'm a FREE-thinking American. I am a registered Independent. I am a man who loves and understands the principles upon which this nation was founded. And unlike Ms. Palin, I actually know how the Constitution of the United States defines the office for which she's running.

7 years ago, I stood in the street on 6th Avenue and watched the unthinkable happen. I watched my friends and neighbors die in a nightmare. But then I watched people focus on helping each other. I saw no panic, no embassies being set on fire, no cars being overturned. All I saw was focus, courage, compassion, kindness and purpose. Words like "patriotism" and "courage" are often bandied about in small towns with no juice behind it. All fluff. All bluster. All talk. No legs. No Spirit. No real character. No genuine meaning. The stuff of lightweights.

Osama Bin Laden didn't take down the Wasilla Post Office in her "real" America.

You can fit the entire population of Wasilla inside Madison Square Garden 4 times and still have room for your friends. There were more people in the World Trade Center that dark day in September than inhabit her little "Real" American town. (Thank Goodness so many of our friends got out alive!)

Sarah Palin is a disgrace.

At my website today, I took a break from the usual fun to deal with her vile, reprehensible and wholly unAmerican statements.

Please, America.

It's time for a change. It's time for grown up, serious people of Truth and Reason to take this country back from the fear-driven ideologues who've hijacked this nation.

An Obama-Biden administration is our last best hope.

Please.

.

1. ok, i think these people think NYC deserved it for not being "godly" enough
this is my view on their thinking:

they think God protected them from being attacked then because they are moral, god fearing people while those "big city" people aren't.

they don't want liberals in office because they think liberals will take god away from every place and terrorists will strike the good moral areas like Wasilla.

they probably thought it was done by another "Real American"

2. Her Nativist concept of what consitutes an American.....
..is itself un-American. The right has seemingly succeeded in crafting an narrative that equates 'American' with demography: White, Protestant, Rural, Married as opposed to adherence to the ideational principles of the enlightenment that were meant to serve as the core of what was an American. We need to take back the label! To be an American is to be an enlightenment liberal!

5. What you just said is un-American
How do you chastise someone for claiming certain Americans are "un-American" when you say "To be an American is to be an enlightenment liberal!" This isn't about taking back a label, it's about the wrongness of claiming ANYONE is un-American according to which political ideology is the flavor in fashion. An "enlightenment liberal" is no more un-American than a dumb as a post conservative and vice versa. We're ALL Americans. The label shouldn't be transferred, it should be squashed and never should have reared its ugly head in the first place.

3. It's called the UNITED States of America and she seems to have
forgotten that fact. I guess Todd has gotten to her with his secession stuff.

She's an ignorant asswipe and is about to be a footnote, if that, so fuck her.

8. We are seeing the last throes, if you will, of white privilege.
"Real America" is the code used by the Party of Yesteryear as they pine for Ye Goodlie Olde Days, when white people were in charge, and rich white people were in charge of them.

Modern America no longer fits that model so completely, and the Republican Party has failed to adapt. All they have left to motivate the rubes is nostalgia.

9. Indeed.
I was just coming out of Grand Central when the first plane hit. After the second plane hit, I was worried about panic, looting and riots. You, sir, are absolutely correct. New Yorkers totally impressed me that day. The diverse population of NYC came together as one people to survive and overcome a great tragedy with courage and sacrifice. That is what being an American is. That is what every American should strive to live up to. That spirit is what makes us great. September 11 was horrific, but it was also one of the most profound days of my life because I saw first hand what people can be and do.

The divisive, hate driven, hypocritical, power hungry, dishonest wretch Sarah Palin does not have a freaking clue what it means to be American.

On the other hand, Obama gets it. He wants to tap into that American spirit, our Better Angels, and inspire us to live up to that example the people of New York set on 9/11.

11. K&R. Very well said.
The republicans are the party of divisiveness. We are the party of unity.

Which is more American?
