Not a goddamn thing.

Sarah Palin is, like Ronald Reagan a celebrity who mouths platitudes to ignorant people who are satisfied that they equate to truth. She is prettier than Reagan was handsome, very versatile, persuasive and photogenic. She has no substance but neither did Reagan or Dubya and they ran the country for 16 years. Mock and dismiss her at your own risk. This country also elected Jesse Ventura, Arnold Swartzenegger and Sonny Bono.

unless Joe the plumber runs.....

Hopefully, her sect will win the upcoming Republican civil war. Wouldn't you love to see the 2012 race as Obama/Biden v Palin/Wurzulbacher

3. Reagan didn't run on "being an idiot just like you."
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 10:55 PM by Warren Stupidity
Reagan, as much as I despised his politics, was not an idiot, was not ignorant, and most certainly did not take pride in ignorance and stupidity. He was in fact a gifted speaker. He was nothing at all like Palin. On the other hand Sonny was as dumb as a stump. Palin and Bono is a fair comparison.

4. He certainly allowed foolish things to be done in his name....
No, he wasn't ignorant nor was he wise. Admitedly he was a gifted actor but I'd be hard pressed to admit very much more in his behalf. Reagan allowed himself to be used to bring out the worst in his country.

6. I love the mental picture.....
"the arrogant studied ignorance of 'That Woman'" vs the elegance of "The One" (or even McCain's "That One")

2012 with Obama vs Palin would be worth waiting for...

8. Difference? Reagan didn't have to go negative to win
As Jimmy Carter said recently, neither of them would have dreamed of calling each other anything less respectful than "my esteemed opponent". Trust Poppy Bush and his Willie Horton smear campaign to take Presidential politics straight into the gutter.

11. Reagan was a far better speaker and had much more charisma.
He never had the negative numbers in polls that Palin has.

He may have been a B-movie actor, but he was a much more talented actor than Sarah Palin.

BTW, "the country" did not elect Jesse Ventura. He was a spoiler in a three-way gubernatorial race in which no one was particularly happy with either the Dem candidate (Skip Humphrey) or the Rep candidate (Norm Coleman). I don't remember the exact numbers, but it seems to me he garnered the votes of only 38% of the voters in Minnesota.

12. Please don't praise Sarah Phalin by comparing her to Reagan
I despised Reagan's ideas and his corrupt administrations from both of his terms but Reagan relied on a positive viewpoint, the morning in America stuff. His supply side economics was a fraud but he was not an idiot. The man had real principles while Phalin has no clue about anything. Reagan was wrong on so many things but he had years of experience in the gov of Ca before he won in 1980. Phalin is a freak of nature, a one of kind VP experiment forced on the nation by a bitter old man.
