Rush Limbaugh has finally "jumped the shark."
In declaring on air that Colin Powell's backing of Obama is "... about race. It's all about race," Limbaugh has finally "jumped the shark."

Colin Powell has had many careers: He's a multi-decorated Vietnam vet; He's been chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; He was considered by many to have presidential stature and was urged to run back in 2000; And to his everlasting shame, he was a shill for the Bush Administration when, as Secretary of State, he helped get us into the Iraq quagmire.

Nonetheless, he spoke out this Sunday on "Meet the Press." His eloquence was magnificent. And in six minutes, using no notes, he made an ironclad case against McCain and for Obama.

But to Limbaugh and his cult of dittoheads, it was all about race.

There is really a point at which words fail. Limbaugh's days are nearing an end. And the only one who doesn't know it, and will never understand "what went wrong," is Rush Limbaugh.

He also doesn't understand that he's left a legacy that can be compared with the infamous witch-hunter of the '50s, Senator Joe McCarthy, or the vile Catholic priest who spewed despicable venom out over the radio during the 1930's, Father Coughlin. (Google them both for more info.) Rush will forever be mentioned with these merchants of hatred.

4. Couldn't be soon enough for me
Vile creature. How anyone who considers themselves a Republican Christian can listen to him is just beyond me. Ludicrous, hypocritcal pieces of crap.

It would be one thing if they had the courage to say, "Fuck it. I'm a scared-ass racist and I want the white folks to rule." Just say it. And let everyone see their fearful little selves.

Show some grit, freepy trolls.

5. Don't kid yerself. He was at his peak during the Clinton years
And he kinda went into the shitter after bush was selected. He thrives during Dem administrations because they provide him with lots of material. He'll try the same thing with Obama but because of the economy I don't think it'll go over quite so well. Nevertheless, he has a lot of years left on his contract so I don't think he'll be going away anytime soon.

Unfortunately.

10. Think about this though, when Franken becomes Senator-Elect
It will kill poor Rush. The guy that called him a big fat idiot will have been elected to the US Senate and sad silly doped up Rush will still be on the radio talking to his cult. The only thing that could make it better is if he put a gun to his head.

I bet Franken's first appearence though is on O'Reilley just so Bill O has to call him Senator. I'm sure he'll offer to make the rounds of his former talk radio competitors though just to hear them say Senator Franken.

11. Never knew about Father Coughlin
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 10:08 PM by Jake3463
and hopefully my grandchildren will never know about Rush and Hannity. Historical Annonimity to the trash heaps of history is what those two deserve most. They are unworthy of being remembered.

Your grandchildren should know everything about Rush, Hannity, Joe McCarthy, Father Coughlin, Joseph Goebbels, and every other would-be tyrant who used the airwaves to peddle lies, fear and hatred.

"Those who refuse to learn from the past are doomed to relive it." I can't remember who said it, but within the relatively short span of my lifetime, I have seen the past relived over and over again in this country -- mostly through the crimes of the Republican Party.

Don't doom your grandchildren to ignorance. The antidote to ignorance, bigotry and hatred is knowledge -- and hopefully, wisdom.

14. Limbaugh makes lots of money braying to his lobotomites.
If you are suggesting that they will pull him over the Powell thing I have to disagree. Limbaugh will be around to spew his garbage until the day his tiny, black, cholesterol-choked heart finally gives.

18. "Time and patience. Patience and time."
That's a quote from the general of the Russian army in Tolstoy's "War and Peace."

Napoleon invaded Russia with the absolute certainty that he was "Master of the Universe" and couldn't be defeated. Then came the Russian winter, Napoleon had to retreat from Moscow, and he suffered the total loss of his "Grande Armee."

Limbaugh, Hannity and their ilk will probably be around for a few more years. But over time, as the internet grows, more and more people will become informed, knowledgeable and angry. The loudmouths of the world won't be in a position to cut off some "non-believer" by simply pushing a button to prevent them from being heard.

In the near-future, the net will be the "great leveler." Everyone will get to say everything. How that will eventually turn out ... who knows?

22. It Is All About Race For Limbaugh, -the White Race Specifically-
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 04:13 AM by mikekohr

RUSH LIMBAUGH: (Hosts the most popular radio talk show in America, also regarded as a world class gasbag, pill-popping blowhard, and shameless, self promoting, self absorbed, namedropping sycophant) -In my opinion-

"I don't give a hoot that gave some Indians a disease that they didn't have an immunity against." 17). (Quote from his best selling book, "The Way Things Ought To Be." pg. 45).

"There are more American Indians alive today than there were when Columbus arrived or at any other time in history. Does this sound like a record of genocide?" 17).(Quote from his best selling book, "I Told You So." pg. #68). Rush must be using the "new math" to arrive at this conclusion. Most experts today, feel that in the United States and Canada alone, there were in 1492, approximately 10 to 20 million Native Americans.1). By 1900 there were less than 250,000 Native people left alive, a decline of well over 98%. At the time the "all knowing" Rushkie wrote this book there were approximately 2,300,000 enrolled native people and an additional 1,000,000 other Indian people of various degrees of Native blood. Using a very, very, generous figure of 3,000,000 Native people, there were at the time of this quote at least 15,000,000 fewer Native people alive as compared to 1492, a decline of at least 83%.

"Columbus saved the Indians from themselves."17). (Quote from his radio show.) Left to themselves the Taino People, over a period of thousands of years, formed a peace loving, prosperous civilization that numbered in the millions. After 50 years of Spanish domination they were reduced in number to nearly zero. It is my hope that the United States or any other nation ever again has to face such a "savior."
