Obama ain't losing PA!
The McCain campaign has been in that state for weeks now and the polls have yet to move. Tomorrow marks the halfway point of the week, which means there isn't much time to make a dent in the polls. He needs to cut this lead fast and it just isn't happening.

Obama will win Pennsylvania and win it comfortably.

Anybody on these boards saying things like ...er...yes...but we can still win without PA...is a fucking coward and imbecile.

Obama is not losing PA, period. This is just dumb.

7. AIR AMERICA RADIO Report
AAR reported this afternoon that votes for Obama were credited to McCain and no receipt was provided to the voters. Are you sure we will get a clean vote this time around???

14. Wasn't that in WV?
PA hasn't voted yet. Although we do have the same voting machines (ES&S) in our county that caused the problems in WVA. Sure, it could happen here. You can't trust them (the machines or the repukes).

8. McCain Radio Commercials are getting more vicious
McCain's official radio commercials in Pa. have gotten much more vicious. He accuses Obama of promising to increase taxes on everyone making over $42,000. He says Obama served with Ayers on a "radical education foundation" (funded by the Annenbergs). He says Obama's health care plan will cause 50 MILLION people to lose their current health insurance. They are just making up things at random and each one says that McCain approved the message.

9. He will win PA handedly. I don't even know why people are freaking out.
THIS IS PENNSYLVANIA for christ's sake. Yes, every state has its racist hick towns, but PA is PA!

Name one state that doesn't have rural, older white voters who may have a problem with voting for Barack Obama due to race? Can't name one? Oh yeah, because it doesn't exist. Even the bluest of blue states like California and New York have voters like the ones in Western PA who Murtha say are "rednecks" who won't vote for a black man.

Obama is up double digits in PA. If McCain all of a sudden went on some crazy tangent and started pouring money into New York, I'm convinced people would start losing it over NY. McCain is in free fall right now and throwing ANOTHER hail mary.

11. All a matter of turnout
Obama is doing great among all registered voters. However, his margin is much smaller among reliable regular voters. It will all be a matter of turnout.

12. I still have a sinking feeling....
that PA could be this year's Ohio (2004). McCain really needs PA and all those red counties in the middle of the state could be a fertile area for republican dirty tricks on election day.

I just hope Rendell and "the machine" have it covered. We can't depend on the Philly and Pittsburgh corners of the state to come to the rescue every election.

Can someone "talk me down" please?

16. Look at the results of 2006. Don't use 2004 or compare with a former repuke state.
It's a whole different state from Ohio or Florida and different from 2004 and now, even better off than 2006. There are > 1 million MORE registered Democrats than repukes in PA now. IMHO, alot of the ones that jump up in the camera that people are worried about are going to sit home. Philadelphia alone registered 300,000 MORE new Democrats SINCE the primary in April. That's a big chunk of new voters and is approx. the same as the entire population of the city of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh has ~334,000 and Philly has ~1.5 million).

17. Good points, thanks.
I live in a red county of PA. All I ever see are McCain (and other republican candidates') signs around here. McCain is spending a lot of time and money here. Even though the statewide polls are around +10 for Obama, I'm still a little nervous that it will tighten up.

It's all about turnout in the blue corners. If you look at the political map of PA, it's amazing how much territory the red areas cover. Although the population is definitely concentrated in the SE and SW corners of the state.

18. Ohio is not PA.
Ohio is far more to the right.

Ohio hasn't gone Democratic in two election cycles. Pennsylvania hasn't gone Republican in four election cycles.

20. True, but I was referring to the election day problems in OH in 2004.
With the entire state of Pennsylvania voting on one day, there will surely be long lines and equipment malfunctions. We have those ES&S machines in our county. There is the possibility that (some of) the vast expanse of red counties could be susceptible to fraud, registration problems, etc.

Like I said, I hope Rendell has it covered.
