Please help me (Ballot Problems)
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 08:16 PM by Liberalboy
I live in Canada, my husband received his absentee ballot from Colorado last week (Wednesday) and I did not. I called the Denver Election Commission on Friday and she verified that yes I am registered to vote, and yes I was sent a ballot, and yes I am registered as a permanent absentee. She told me to hang on as the ballots were sent out in staggering formation and I should receive mine soon. There is no mail delivery on Saturday here in the Great White North, so I waited till Monday...nothing.

Now two weeks from Election Day I still don't have my ballot.

Thoughts?

2. My only thought would be to contact your post office to try to verify that it was not mis-sorted
or somehow misplaced

other than that, I just don't know. sorry

3. Call and ask if they accept the Federal Absentee Write in Ballot.
If they do, and they SHOULD, you can find it at this website: https://yvo.overseasvotefoundation.org/overseas/FwabStart.htm

They may also be able to send you an email ballot. That's what my husband ended up using because his absentee ballot didn't make it to Iraq in time.

4. Keep calling, call them every day
and call the local (Denver) Obama office, maybe they can do some legwork. Maybe they can even get you a new one and send it to you themselves.

6. Call again

Find out what date your ballot was sent.
If it was long enough ago that you really should have received it by now, ask them to to send another ballot, and confirm the address, etc.
Obviously, when you send the ballot back in after you've voted on it, they check the poll list, to be sure that it's the only ballot you are returning.

The only flaw I see here is if someone else received your ballot, voted it, and sent it back. That person would have committed a felony (at least in the U.S.), but it would be difficult for you to deal with in time for election day.

Also, contact the campaign in Colorado colorado@barackobama.com

Good Luck.

And yeah, never give up!!! :hi:
