Clay says early votes can't be disallowed

GARY -- The Lake County Republican Party can try to stop early voting in Gary, East Chicago and Hammond, but Mayor Rudy Clay said Monday he'll continue to fight for it.

Clay said word has also gotten out that if the court rules against the satellite offices, those who have voted early won't count. As long as the people who voted were legal voters, however, that is also not true, and those votes will be counted, he said.

"I know the (GOP) party says they'll be thrown out, but that's more scare tactics," he said. "We've been talking to lawyers from here all the way up to D.C., and we're told they can't be thrown out.

By arguing that votes cast before decisions to suspend early voting are handed done are invalid, the GOP makes its plot completely transparent even to Sarah Palin's new baby. I may ridicule the Liberal and Conservative parties on a constant basis, but I would never deprive of their supporters the right to vote in a free and fair election.
