Just got back from Hillary/Franken. Ask me anything.
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 07:31 PM by Chichiri
A few highlights:

Amy Klobuchar, our GOOD Senator, impressing upon us the need for 60 seats. Talked about the kind of things we could have done with just three more seats, two more seats, one more seat, etc. over the last few years.

Hillary. I've always been an Obama supporter, but I just love the gal.

Hillary: As you know, Al used to be a comedian. And occasionally, he's even been funny.

Franken: Clinton took the largest deficit in history -- at the time, it's been eclipsed since -- and turned it into the largest surplus in history. Remember that?
Guy in audience: Vaguely!
Franken: I'll take care of the jokes.

Another guy in audience: Al Franken, Pro-America!
Franken: I wouldn't necessarily say that, Mister Bachman . . .

Franken: Put a bumper sticker on the back of your car -- and for the next fourteen days, don't cut anyone off!

Awesome, awesome times.

4. It was only 2 years ago Franken was in Chicago with his little radio show live
interviewing Senatorial candidate Barack Obama. Time moves fast.

14. I like Al, but not so much. Al supported going into Iraq ...
... even going so far as to participate in some Clear Channel-sponsored pro-war rallies; though it didn't take him too long to realize the error. (Powell's UN testimony had a pretty big influence on him, as well as having been a resident of NYC.)

11. Did Madia leave early with one of his signs?
He was suppose to drop one off with my daughter. His Dad promised her.

Well, you said "anything".

15. He did leave early, don't know if he had signs.
Hillary, to her detriment, mispronounced his name as "Ashwan" at one point.

I donated to him this weekend, double my Tinklenberg donation.

13.  Lucky!
Here I sit in the Atlanta airport waiting to catch my flight in 20 minutes back to MN. I spent the whole day traveling for work, and thus missed the fun at this event. I'm supremely jealous. I think I'm the only one for about a 3-block radius that has a Franken sign in my yard (I live in the suburban neocon desert of Savage, MN), and so need a support system. It's good to know that there are good Minnesotans like you out there fighting the good fight!

Go Al! Drive that sumbitch Coleman back to the slime-pool from which he crawled!

16. I was there with Chichiri
Franken told a story about the time his son Joe, then 9 years old, met Hillary. He was wearing a baseball cap ("I can't remember why we even let him wear a baseball cap to the White House", said Franken) and when he met Hillary, he was so awed that he took off his cap and held it over his heart.

"Awwwww!" said the audience.

"And then Hillary made that sound -- 'awwww'." said Franken.

The audience laughed.

"And then she laughed."

OMG COMMUNAL BRAIN!

We brought home a Franken sign, too. :)
