Many of you know how often neocon Bill Kristol has been wrong about anything and everything. Most importantly, Kristol was the major cheerleader for going into Iraq among the neocons (and the major proponent of the view that it would be a quick and easy victory, where democracy and profit would just flow out like water from a faucet).
And now, with his advocacy for Sarah Palin to be VP candidate, Kristol was horribly mistaken. He believed that there was a way to allow Republicans to win in a year where the public hates them. That way was to reignite the flames of the culture war. As long issues weren't being discussed, Kristol thought Republicans could win on farmiliar turf on the issues of guns, abortion, religion, etc. And the way to reignite the culture war was to pick Sarah Palin.
Kristol thought that it was about time that a wall-mart mom became VP (whatever that means). He thought it was about time that Joe six-pack represented the people. Most importantly, he thought he could avoid the problems of Bushism and Republicanism by simply changing the subject. As long as voters that he considered uneducated were not hearing about the issues, McCain would win.
Too bad that Palin is now the primary drag on the McCain ticket, with 55% of Americans who think that she is not qualified to take over for 72-year-old cancer-survivor McCain.
I hope his decision speeds up Kristol's journey into the land of irrelevance.
