Florida Congressional District 8 Turns a Dark Shade of Blue
For those of you who don't know who Alan is, he has been fighting Iraq War Profiteers, is a proud liberal and is showing Ric Keller the door in Florida's Eighth Congressional District. Help him if you can!

Doug D.

Early voting began yesterday, and the Florida Secretary of State just released the final voter lists for the general election. The numbers are amazing! For the first time in decades, District 8 is a Democratic district - and by a wide margin. There are now 9000 more Democrats than Republicans in our congressional district. That margin grew by 8000 in the last week of registration. The district now is 39.4% Democratic, and only 37.3% Republican.

Since 2006, the number of Democrats has increased by over 21,000. And the number of Republicans has dropped by over 2000.

In 2006, the Republican advantage in registration was 14,000, and Keller won by 13,000 votes. Now, the Democratic advantage in registration is 9000, which means that Grayson for Congress will win by .

Mike Thomas, the Orlando Sentinel columnist, has his answer - he is predicting that Grayson for Congress will win by 54% to 46%. The Washington Post, saying that Keller is in a "world of trouble," rates this as the 16th most likely House race in the country (out of 435) where the challenger will win. The Rothenberg Political Report says that the race "tilts Democratic." And Congressional Quarterly, noting that national Democratic Party officials have "stepped in" to help the Grayson for Congress campaign, has said that the race no longer "leans Republican."

MoveOn.org has selected this race as one of the top four House races in the country. It is using its network to raise funds for this campaign.

And Keller? He's just running nothing but confusing and silly negative advertising. With two weeks to go before the election, Keller still has not issued a single TV ad or mail piece explaining why he deserves to be reelected. As one expert put it: "The word from outside Florida is that looks like a winner. Keller ads are bordering on the insane."

The latest polls show that more people in the district have a negative view of Keller than a positive one. And the feeling is mutual; Keller must have a very negative view of his constituents, to think that they will allow him to cheat on his term limit pledge, simply on the basis of negative advertising.

As we approach the end of this race, we are encouraged to see how anxious people are to support a candidate who offers solutions for our problems. That's why Alan Grayson will be elected to Congress on Nov. 4.

Remember - you can vote now, at early voting sites. On your mark, get set, vote!
