It's Kinda Ironic That Vietnam Was The Longest War In American History
Yet this country will probably never have a president that served in it.

- George Washington
- James Madison
- James Monroe
- Andrew Jackson

War of 1812
- Andrew Jackson
- William Henry Harrison
- John Tyler
- Zachary Taylor

Black Hawk War
- Abraham Lincoln

Mexican War
- Zachary Taylor
- Millard Fillmore
- Franklin Pierce
- Ulysses S. Grant

Civil War
- Andrew Johnson
- Ulysses S. Grant
- Rutherford B. Hayes
- James Garfield
- Chester A. Arthur
- Benjamin Harrison
- William McKinley

Spanish-American War
- Theodore Roosevelt

World War I
- Harry S. Truman
- Dwight D. Eisenhower

World War II
- Dwight D. Eisenhower
- John F. Kennedy
- Lyndon B. Johnson
- Richard M. Nixon
- Gerald R. Ford
- George H. W. Bush

Korean War
- Jimmy Carter

Vietnam War

NONE (cause I'm guessing McCain isn't going to get elected).

Now, since I'd imagine this will probably be the last election where a Vietnam vet is going to be on the ballot, the country could have its first extended period of presidents that did not serve in war. You'd think, considering Vietnam was the longest war in our history, we would have had at least one.

Ironic, isn't it?

1. Ironic, but not at all surprising...
...considering the bitterly divided attitude Americans had and still have about that war.

2. I thought the Korean War
was longest.

Oh, my bad, that was just the show about the Korean War that lasted 6 years longer than the war itself.
