I just want to see the republican party relegated to the dustbin of history .

Then I can vote for the Socialist party candidate with a clear conscious.

21. I'm voting for Noriega, Lampson (he opposed the bailout), and
I may pick some libertarians just for fun.

6. Huge turnout for early voting for Obama in Harris County
from what I've read.

Oh, I hope, I hope, I hope. How dandy that would be. How so many of us who have worked so hard under extreme duress would party, party, party!

8. So? Call me greedy!
Nothing would please me more than for Obama to win Texas! I have lived in Texas all my life, 53 yrs. I have grown to despise republicans. Not the everyday Joe republicans, but those who live and breathe republican politics. You know, the ones who you would "actually stick an Obama bumpersticker on their car when they weren't looking" republicans! he he

9. Texas would NOT be Red State if Democrats got out and Voted
Being a Precinct Chair I have access to a very extensive data bank. I was really surprised by the lack of voter turn out by Democrats. They just don't Vote They are labeled as "soft" Democrats.

I'm listed as a "hard" Democrat.

Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 03:29 PM by MagickMuffin
I live in Tarrant County and we have a very active Obama Supporters working to GOTV.

I think the rethuglicons will be somewhat surprised by the turn out. They think they have Texas all sewn up for McCain, hopefully they will be shaking their heads for a long time on this election.

Texas BLUE.... YeeHaw:kick:

edit: added onto a sentence

10. No but give up on the idea that the Repubs won't come back.
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 03:17 PM by yellowcanine
I remember 1964. Like it was yesterday. And I remember 1968 and 1972. So I know how quickly a political party can come back. Let's not make the same mistake Karl Rove did between 2004 and 2006.

12. I did my part yesterday in collin county ........ no wait time at all ..... the
strange thing though is that I live in redneck area of richardson/plano/murphy and I see almost no signs supporting mcpalin.
Support for them in a repub stronghold is really lukewarm, so I'm hoping we are able to add Texas to the democratic column this year.

13. Not going to happen.
At the tire store yesterday, the technician announced that anyone who voted for Obama should be lined up and shot. So, when I told him that I was an Obama voter, he pulled his six inch pocket knife out and brandished it to my throat. That's what kind of hate you find in North Texas.

16. There are some evil mofos here, eh?
I got laughed at by a bunch of bubbas like that when blockwalking over the weekend. But we didn't run into any folks with knives.

I hope there was a witness or perhaps a security camera. That is attempted assault with a deadly weapon.

What a lipsticked pig.

23. That's why I strongly suggest ALWAYS bringing
a gun to a knife fight. A "lib" with a glock settles crazy Republiscum down super quick and gets them rethinking their fucked up concepts or at least sends them running with their tails tucked between their legs.

I seriously can't believe people run around batshit Texas unarmed.

17. I was nervous today parked next to a big truck w/ McFailin' sticker....
...then noticed the big truck on the other side of my car had a bigger Obama sticker than I have!

Yay! :~) Go Texas Democrats! (esp. Hays County Dems, woot!)

18. No, not at all. And wanting Noriega to win is important, too.
Not to mention House members, and Texas house and senate. And the State Board of Education.

No, if we're realistic about what will likely happen, then we are not nearly greedy enough at all.

25. Run-off voting
We have it in Australia. It is great when you can vote with a clear conscious (I, too, often go with a socialist candidate or Green), but also have a "mainstream" slightly left candidate from the Labour Party who has a very good chance of winning up the top and know that he/she will also get my vote if it comes down to numbers. Best of both worlds.

26. If Texas doesn't go Obama, I think everyone is going to be surprised at how
close it's going to be.

Granted, I'm in a pretty blue part of Texas, but I see more and more Obama signs sprouting up all the time. One funny thing today, there was a house with a sign for Obama AND McSame. Bet that household has some heated conversations.

I think it's going to hinge on the rural/small town vote. If those people stay home, Texas has a good chance of putting all it's electoral votes in the Obama column.

I also wish there was more of a presence from the national Dem party here. The county Dem party had to print their own signs.

27. I wonder if the Alaska - Texas rivalry will hurt McCain in Texas?
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 07:07 PM by votetastic
Especially since Palin seems to hate Texas herself - she couldn't even stand to have her son born there.
