Probably The MOST IMPORTANT Rule About Veeps
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 02:03 PM by IWantAnyDem
The Veep should NEVER NEVER EVER outshine the candidate at the top of the ticket.

Doing so diminishes the ticket in the eyes of the undecided. Undecided voters concern themselves with the person at the top of the ticket. If the Veep is more important than the Presidential Nominee is, it reflects negatively on the top of the ticket and undecided voters are less likely to break your way.

8. That's true but irrelevant -- it's outshining McCain that is at issue.

3. I would think Palin has rewrote the top rule
now it's never select a VP who is as dumb as a bag of doorknobs.

9. Hey, that's unfair to doorknobs.
At least doorknobs serve a useful purpose.

5. Sarah brings out the absolute worst in people.
Including John McC.

However, they each stink in their own unique way.

6. yea and no... this situation is different... and i think this year's undecideds are unique
i think the undecided actual voters are a very small group at this point.

i think the true undecideds this year are mostly white, male, conservative and religious. They are probably entirely working class types who can swing to both parties and they are entirely driven by their sense of CHARACTER in the candidates.

mccain has no chance with these people by himself.

palin is the one winning the "character" struggle among conservatives. so, i think the remaining undecided voters probably like palin more but know obama is the better choice on the issues.

the more sophisticated undecided types are likely wealthier right-leaning folks who are very much on top of the issues, already feel embarrassed about palin... but just haven't brought themselves to committing to obama.

those are the types where the big conservative newspaper and pundit endorsements can help push them over.

7. I dont think it matters. Let's think about who the Oct 2008 "undecided" voters likely are
i think the undecided actual voters are a very small group at this point.

meanwhile, palin has a 30% approval rating nationally.
