This may seem so ridiculously simplistic that it will be mostly ignored, which is fine, but for me, waking up this morning at 2:30 a.m. for no reason left me lots of time to really think some things through about this election.
I watch the polls every day, check the websites, listen to progressive radio, watch Keith and Rachel and sometimes CNN and my emotions go up and down with every new number or plus or minus ... probably just like most of you here. My thoughts are mostly positive, but I feel some dread, misgivings, or whatever you want to call it at times ... and I hear people saying it too, and read some of you posting it too and I know I'm not alone.
It's so simple for me, what I will now refer to as the 2000 Effect. We're going to win. It's there. It's in everything we see, read and hear. WE ARE GOING TO WIN! THAT ONE! He's going to win!
So why the dread? the misgivings at times? Because I, like all of you, also went to bed on November 7th, 2000 with a warm happy feeling in my heart and woke up to the worst news that even now I still gut a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about. That is the 2000 Effect. We are winning and yet we cannot believe it. We might not even still believe it until January 20, 2009.
Yes I know, they will try to do what they did in 2000 and what they did in 2004 and even 2006. But I'm telling you now, they will not be able to steal this election this time. Not this year. The people are speaking. They are speaking loud and clear. America is still a democracy and will shout it out to the world louder than it has ever been shouted before.
WE ARE GOING TO WIN!
