There are going to be some very disappointed Freepers. They remind of the old gold prospectors who went insane after years of not finding gold.

2. Secret Obama birth files?
WTF?

I thought Hawai'i already confirmed his birth certificate. What other "birth files" could there possibly be?

7. Those retards think he forged it, and the 'real' one is hidden
and that he is using his grandmother's illness as a cover to high-tail it back to Hawaii and work on covering it all up for good.

25. So, he was really born....where? That's what I don't understand.
Obviously, his mother was living in Hawaii at the time.

And there must be HUNDREDS of documents to prove that. Tax records, municipal records, etc.

So they're saying that she got on a plane and had the baby in another country (e.g Kenya, Indonesia, Mongolia). Even if she DID, it wouldn't negate Obama's citizenship. Most countries don't even automatically give citizenship to children of foreigners born on their soil.

And then she came back and FORGED a Hawaiian birth certificate? Or Obama forged himself it at a later time? And then secretly inserted a copy into Hawaiian state offices?

This wouldn't even make a good spy movie.

As long as you're American-born, with one or two of your parents American.

American citizenship is granted both Jus Soli and Jus Sanguinis.

37. Factcheck.org has some good stuff
Including his birth announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser. Wow, his mother was really wily to put a birth announcement in a Hawaii paper, knowing he'd run for president in 47 years! FR is really insane on this issue.

They are hoping these secret birth files will reveal that Obama wasn't really BORN, so much as created. In a lab.
By a democratic strategist. On a Sunday.

I listened to some right-wing AM radio last night and and advertisement featuring Hank JR came on and it made me sick to my stomach.

WHO is perpetuating this LIE that Obama is going to take everyone's guns away? What do the Freepers base this on? Just bald faced lies. Fear. That's all the repugs have is fear.

I will never understand politicians that run their campaigns based on lies. How does that serve our nation? How does that make us stronger? As far as Hank Jr. goes as a Southerner Family Tradition is one of those songs you love. No more Hank has lost all my respect. Gone from my Ipod and my hard drive along with the rest of his shitty music.

After all, he's just using her "illness" as a front to go to Hawai'i and manipulate his birth records. Because life is like James Bond movies, the bad guys wait until the last minute to do stuff like that...

Americans have the right to know all the medical details... of the Democrat candidate's grandmother. The actual Repuke candidates of course are entitled to their privacy!!

6. I guess that means......
....we are going to have to go to Panama to look up McCain's birth records. McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone (under U.S. rule)in Panama. Hold it! Panama? What if he was really born outside of the zone?

The Panama Canal Zone was returned to Panama in 1999. Does that make Mccain an alien? No.

Did that revoke his citizenship in the U.S.? No

Does it make him any more a citizen than Obama? No.

Do freepers have a brain in their skull? No.

12. Citizen, yes. Naturally-born, no.
My husband was born in South Africa to American parents working abroad. He is a citizen, but cannot run for president.

However, the Senate did have to approve a non-binding resolution to allow McCain to run since he was born in Panama: http://leahy.senate.gov/press/200804/043008d.html

13. Which is why snopes says John McCain's status as natural born is still "undetermined"
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 08:19 AM by DeschutesRiver
http://www.snopes.com/politics/mccain/citizen.asp

If it were to be pushed, McCain could lose this issue - he is a citizen by an after the fact law (born 1936 in PCZ; law making those born in PCZ citizens made in 1937, retroactive to those born from 1904 and on), but there is a fair and interesting argument that he can never be considered a natural born citizen.

24. The basic problem is that "natural born" is not expressly defined in the Constitution

...and if McCain were to be elected, I'm sure it would be defined by the Court to include him.

There are all sorts of arguments for what "natural born" might mean. It came up when Goldwater was running, since he was born in Arizona Territory. But it's not as if there has been a lot of case law on this phrase as used in the Constitution.

36. Actually, he probably can run for president. The Constitution doesn't specify.
Since McCain was not born on American soil - wasn't even born in the Panama Canal Zone, much less in the United States - and he's running for president, it seems clear that anyone who was a U.S. citizen at birth is eligible to be president.

29. I don't know much about Hawaii'an courts
But I would assume this has nothing to do with the Hawaii Supreme Court.

First, I would guess it would have had to be filed in a lower court. Normally, ordinary citizen's can't petition a Supreme Court to do anything, unless there first has been a lower court action. You need to have something for the court to review.

Just like you can't just petition the US Supreme Court to do anything for you.

Second, my guess is that this Yahoo Andy Martin has no standing. Meaning, he has no right to petition the Hawaii Supreme Court for anything. His interest in what ever might have to do with Mr. Obama's birth certificate is spurious and so remote, that I would guess on standing alone, this will be dismissed by the clerk.

This is nothing but a publicity stunt and the freeper's are buying it hook, line and sinker.
