Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 06:13 AM by Franks Wild Years
I think so. I think he'd be open to doing some appearances for Obama - He said that he had no plans to, but I got the impression that he could be convinced if his presence was requested. He could instantly negate any doubts Biden has sewn with regards to Obama and his ability to cope in the midsts of a foreign affairs crisis.

And Powell's previous misdemeanors are irrelevant at this point. Obama accepted his endorsement, the wider public love him and under the circumstances, if Biden's ill-advised remark needs to be extinguished, with Obama off the trail later this week he's the perfect man to do so.

6. His comments regarding Obama being "tested" and "needing help"...
..within the first six months of his presidency. McLoser's campaign have pounced on it.

9. It's not even a 'gaffe'
Even the media knows it - that's why they hardly reported on it yesterday.

10. I think it can be interpreted as one though...
...which is why I think, in this reactionary climate, it was an ill-advised comment. I certainly agree that taken in a normal world it wouldn't be anything noteworthy, but right now I should imagine Joe Biden wishes he hadn't said that.

17. I agree it's more of a non-issue than not, but they are latching onto it like
leeches this morning. And laughing condescendingly at their "gotcha" to the winning ticket (or so they think.

I would love it if Powell came out and doused this little gleeful little party... well they've got Madeleine Albright (sp?) but they're treating the whole thing very sarcastically on msnbc (Morning Joe). I have no idea why these folks are considered useful, personally (Mika and Joe, specifically).

15. Powell will not campaign. His wife did not want him to run for President for that reason--she did
not want the possiblity that he would be killed on the campaign trail. She is not going to take that risk on behalf of anyone else.

18. It won't, don't worry!
Be happy! Seriously, I don't think this "story" will last beyond today, except maybe on Fix Noise. And if it does, it could hurt McShame more than anybody else. After all, I think a growing number of people see McFossil as unstable and erratic, and then there's Sarah "Putin rears his head" Palin.....
