I am so happy that Obama is the nominee
I was first a Kucinich supporter, then a Biden supporter, then an Edwards supporter, donating to all three.

all three, however, had either dropped out, or become marginalized by the time California's primary rolled around, but i cant think of anyone better to have as President right now then Obama.

12. He sure does, there was something about him that I really liked.
I was originally rooting for Edwards but you're right Obama has grown on me in the past months. "Change" isn't just a slogan he truly embody's change.

2. Agreed
I was a DK guy myself and although I would still prefer that he was the nominee, I am looking forward to casting my vote for Obama. He is the nominee and gets my vote.

19. I want the Republicans to lose
That doesn't mean that I can get all excited about our nominee, especially after his votes on FISA, taxpayer giveaways for failed fatcats, and funding for the Iraq war, as well as talk about escalating the war in Afghanistan. And I am speaking as one who has voted for the Democratic nominee in every Presidential election since 1984.

20. Good for you...
seems as though you have compromised your principles plenty of times then, including for the guy in your avatar...Mr. Environmentalist that runs up ridiculous energy bills in his mansion every month, who drives around in SUV's, etc. Hypocrisy knows no bounds in politics.

Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 04:09 AM by Art_from_Ark
it's quite another to drain the Treasury to keep funding and even escalating a war that means nothing but misery, death and destruction for millions of people, and for voting to spy on Americans for no reason and with no accountability.

22. I disagree...
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 04:12 AM by TTUBatfan2008
Hypocrisy is hypocrisy. Gore got his ass called out in the 92 election for flip flopping on a number of issues including abortion. Virtually every single member of Congress can be called out for hypocrisy, at least the ones who are considered "mainstream" enough to get elected in a Presidential election.

23. You remind me of a preacher who tried to tell me
that whacking off was just as great a sin in the eyes of God as committing mass murder. Sorry, but the claim that "Hypocrisy is hypocrisy, whether absolutely no one is hurt, or whether it leads to the deaths of multitudes or to the bankrupting of a nation" is just plain bullshit. :eyes:

And I don't give a rat's ass about Gore's position on abortion, or any presidential candidate's for that matter. The Republicans are going to keep that issue going like the Energizer Bunny because it's just the gift that keeps on giving to them. They've had excellent chances to pass legislation against it under Reagan and especially under bu$h 2, but they haven't and they won't.

25. LOL
Well hypocrisy is hypocrisy, regardless. I'm not happy about Obama's support of the FISA thing. I don't have a problem with him voting for funding. I would not vote to cut off funding either if the President was unwilling to withdraw troops. They deserve the funding and need it. Your outrage about these things is pretty funny though. It's politics. The words "politician" and "hypocrite" are essentially synonyms.

27. So by your standards
bu$h was an OK "President", right? I mean, he's just doing what politicians do best, right? Can't blame him for that, right?

31. No...
His policies have been pretty damn bad. But our own "icon" in the Democratic Party, Bill Clinton, is well-known for his triangulation. You can be a hypocritical flip-flopper but still be a good President. Clinton is an example of that.

5. Although I strongly like Edwards personally, I'm VERY thankful he didn't get the nod
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 03:22 AM by Dennis Donovan
We dodged a bullet there.:(

My first choice was Joe Biden. Smart and effective, I believed he was the man for the job.

After Iowa, I gave Obama a second look. Upon closer scrutiny, I became more and more impressed with his accomplishments and, especially, his character. The more I knew about him, the more I liked him. My admiration of him grows each day. I cast my vote for him in the NY primary.

I will always have a great deal of affection and admiration for Dennis - long the conscience of the House. Unfortunately, he lacked the broad appeal needed for national electability.

7. I went from hoping for Clark or Gore to Edwards to Obama.
But I am happy with Obama, more than happy really. The more I see and hear him, the more I like him. His acceptance speech at the Convention had me misting up and I am not a person easily moved. He was made for this job.

Of course, Dennis is always my first choice but he is far too marginalized.

24. I agree 100%...even though I was a Hillary supporter in the primaries.
How fortunate are we to have one of the most decent human beings EVER to run as presidential candidate...one of the most intelligent, knowledgeable AND capable. Someone we can be truly proud of...and proud that he is running a very strong and honorable campaign. This is a man who can be a true example and hero to all children.

A ham sandwich and a cheeseburger ought to be able to beat McSameasbush and Mrs. Moosedresser this time around, given the general malaise of the country and the number of times those two have screwed up.

Obama's choices gave him this advantage. No one knows what would have happened with other scenarios (of Democratic nominees).

33. I pushed for Obama in Nov of 06, rooted for Hillary in the Primaries, & LOVE Obama as our candidate
I think he is not only a wonderful candidate to become President, but he is a magnificent campaigner, which is JUST what the doctor ordered. Barack is so fucking cool. I just love watching him and what he has to say. He is making this whole journey so enjoyable.
