So how many prominent conservatives have thrown McCain
under the bus thus far? In the past week alone there has been Christopher Buckley, Colin Powell, and today Michael Smerconish. It would be interesting to make a list of most of them throughout the campaign.

Its very reassuring.

2. I didn't know that one
but I Googled him and found out it just happened. Found this quote in the Washington Post:

"When the economic crisis broke, I found John McCain bouncing all over the place. In those first few crisis days, he was impetuous, inconsistent, and imprudent; ending up just plain weird," Adelman wrote, according to Packer. "Having worked with Ronald Reagan for seven years, and been with him in his critical three summits with Gorbachev, I've concluded that that's no way a president can act under pressure."

3. Do you think McCain might have actually been set up by the republican party?
Cleaning up after GWB is going to be one hell of a task. Maybe the repugs don't want to take it on.

6. Many of their candidates won't even put
the word "Republican" on their campaign signage or TV ads. I think some will let it go temporarily, so they can come back stronger later.

5. Sometimes I think that is possible
The republican party knows it has to reinvent itself and if the Dems can't fix Bush's mess in four years, they can come back strong and blame everything on an Obama administration. So many people have really short memories and might fall for another republican campaign of distorted truths. The next Karl Rove could be honing his skills right now.

I'm not saying that is what will happen, but its possible some shrewd political operatives might think so.

8. Then there was Katherine Parker
though she was really throwing Palin under the bus, so don't know if that counts.

11. He's clearly disgusted with the McCain campaign
I wonder if he'll even vote for president. How do their minds work anyway?

12. I have more respect for these people than before. We differ on how we see the world
but they have demonstrated that they are at least "reasonable" and thoughtful.

13. Same here
I really don't mind different, as long as it is honest and intelligent. Some of the best discussions I've had were with conservatives, very stimulating and thought provoking. I like George Will even though I disagree with him for the most part. He is really a smart guy!
