i luv Rachel Maddow but she's got on my nerves with ...
...her insistence that Obama is 'suspending' his campaign or 'calling off his campaign'...that puts him in league with John McCain's nutty behavior and Obama's campaign has specifically stated that they are not suspending anything and campaign events will continue...Rachel is smarter and better than this, i don't understand why she feels the need to give these misleading characterizations...maybe it's not a big deal, but i was very annoyed by it...

1. I think that she was reading the scroll prompt that they fed her on the breaking
news.. She ammended her words as the show continued on to say that he's taking two days off to go visit his grandmother.. I beleive as it was breaking.. she was just reading the prompter.

2. Me too...
It has a particularly grating Chicken Little quality to it, not to mention the fact it evokes an unwarranted comparison to McCain's campaign 'suspension' during the height of the economic crisis.

I thought Rachel had more sense.

3. But don't you like the suspension being for the deepest reasons?
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 09:02 PM by Overseas
Not some grandstanding on the economy which everyone knows you could keep abreast of via conference calls but family ties of the strongest kind.

Solid. Real. Authentic.

Suspension A = Chicken w/o Head, after just saying The Fundamentals of the Economy are Strong.

Suspension B = Grandma may be dieing. I want to be sure to say goodbye.

5. Yeah, that really pissed me off too.
I didn't see that she was drawing a parallel with mccrap, but it really bugged me that she questioned what it would do to the campaign.

Sometimes she really pisses me off.

8. That Wasn't the Phraseology I Remember
In any case, I didn't think it was bad.

She DOES bug me with her plugging investments in gold which stand to lose her listeners a lot of money if her sponsors are wrong.

12. I wish she'd stop pushing the "Bradley effect."
I love her, but I'd like her to stop going over and over that.

14. She needs to keep on her pessimistic hat
If Obama were to somehow lose she could waste months/years pointing to this suspension, or the Bradley Effect, or the elongated primary vs. Hillary, and emphasize that she mentioned them ad nausea all along.

Rachel epitomizes overrated. I was down on Olbermann until she showed up, making him look far superior, other than the too frequent and over the top special comments.
