3. The first sketch was terrible. The second one was hillarious.

I didn't think I'd ever see a candidate 'raise the roof' or do a head nod. It was as funny as I found David Shuster during the primary.

Our culture has widened enough to include all kinds of African American colloquial expressions and gestures.

7. Sorry, can't vote that it was a bust. I thought it was hilarious, and I thought she did a good job.

I cannot stand Sarah Palin ... she's a liar, a hypocrite, a fundie wackadoodle and a BAAAAAD vice presidential candidate. But she showed she can laugh at herself and mock herself on national TV, and she earned her pop-culture cred with that skit. I laughed my ass off. Every time I see a replay of her "throwing her hands in the ay-er ay-ay-er ay-er ..." I crack up. I can give her props, despite my hatred.

Of course, it did nothing for her politically. I don't think it helped or hurt her.

She got a very positive review in the NY Times today (I knew she'd get props from some of the pundits, because it was a successful appearance.)

The good news: Maybe Sarah will rethink this whole politics thing and ask Fox to give her a TV show.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled economic crisis, quagmire of a war, disintegrating environment, etc.

So many on this board were so determined to hate her performance that they couldn't have seen anything positive about it if she'd won an Emmy award. Any loyal Democrat who can appreciate a few minutes of satirical comedy is suddenly turned into Rush Limbaugh. So sorry ... but I can't LIE on an entertainment poll (I'm not voting at all, by the way) to please the DU brownshirts.

I am a Democrat. I can give someone props for a fucking comedy performance, despite my hatred for everything she stands for (and my hatred for John McCain for attempting to SCREW our country by choosing her as his VP candidate). John McCain was also very funny at the Al Smith dinner, BTW (not as funny as Barack, of course, but ...)

I thought it was only Republicans who hate everything Democrat so much that they can never find ANYTHING positive in ANYTHING a Democrat does. Guess I'm wrong.

10. Palin clearly did not understand this rule of political lampooning:

Never, never publicly participate in self-lampooning with and written by people who REALLY don't like you. It was funny, but made her seem godawful as a political candidate -- she was clearly the butt of the joke, out of her league, and clueless as to how it made her look to viewers. When she shot the moose, I shot Pepsi out my nose.
