When did Lout Dobbs turn into a WingNut??
Over the last couple weeks while I flip through the evening news channels, his show has turned very very obviously biased against Obama. Its almost like watching Fox News. Now, I know hes a republican, but he always seemed like a fiscal conservative, and he never seemed to really like Bush that much.

Tonight all hes been talking about it Joe the plumber and how his "endorsement" is more significant than Powell's. Pretty much everything out of Dobbs mouth is a knock on either Obama or his campaign. Some of things I've heard sound word for word what Hannity / wingnut radio has been spewing even!

Also I am reminded of the picture of him and the Obama racist picture on the cereal box. Is he finally outing himself as a racist? I dont think his show will last much longer on CNN, he seems to be angling for a gig on Fox News or Fox Business News.

1. He has been a wing-nut for twenty years, the fact some chose to miss that notwithstanding.

2. Lou Dobbs coming out as a racist would be as shocking as when Clay Aiken came out as gay.

5. Dobbs is so heavily invested in imperialism, fascism and fear that the prospect of
real change is just too much for him. Behind his bullshit avuncular smile he's a mean bastard.

8. He's a freaking idiot - I just changed my Dish channel lineup to include MSNBC so I could change the
channel.

Used to have MSNBC and other channels, then downgraded for several reasons, and hell, I just had to say, wtf is $12 more a month?

10. As long as he's been on TV at least
although one has to admit that he's ever creepier and more bizarre over the years, as media deregulation (and the degradation of its internal culture and controls) allowed him more "freedom" to spew racist views and outright lie- make false statements of fact- about things like Hispanics and leprosy- with any sort of public retractions or accountability.

14. He's always been terrible.
But he used to just cover economic news for the upper crust.

Then Fox News started crushing CNN in the ratings, so they decided to change their format. They hired RW racist shills like Glenn Beck, even tried to get the bubble-headed news readers like Mike Galenos riled up into firebrands.

Dobbs chose to go after illegal immigrants, who were the racial scapegoat at the time. Dobbs had on some white supremacists, and started spreading white supremacist talking points. Some advocates spoke out against his racism, he took it personally (he's one of those "I am not a racist, I've got lots of mexican friends" type racists) and turned it up a notch.

Finally, Barack Obama attacked Lou Dobbs over his racism, and that completely sent him over the edge.

Fuck Lou Dobbs. Fuck his fans.

25. Yea his crusade again illegal immigration was wierd
He just wouldn't let it go. Which makes me wonder how in his mind he can support McCain, who got blasted by the republicans for his immigration views. I still can't believe CNN gives him a prime time show to spew his hate..

17. By Dobbs own acount: 63 years ago.
"Dobbs once described himself as a "lifelong Republican,"<18>" - wiki.

Dobbs is actually a rightwing economic populist, a peculiar subset of rightwingnut that dangerously mixes racism and nationalism with a bit of working class populism. In the 30's we had Huey Long pushing a similar approach, over in Europe they had two guys named Adolph and Benito. This sort of politics is harmless when times are good, but can be rather dangerous when things fall apart.

18. I used to watch Lou Dobs in the 1990s, but that was when he focused almost entirely on financial
dealings on Wall Street.

However, he's been on his "anti-immigration" right-wing kick for about 6 years now.

is on the same side on one issue or two, they forget how bad they are on everything else.

Dobbs and Buchanan are RW nuts whether they oppose immigration, the Iraq War, or they show their basic racism. They opposed the Iraq War for the WRONG reasons.
