They get me through treacherous moments-- when reality is so divergent from our country's core ideals and I do a double-take, so do they. When I'm stricken with shock during these Bush ages, I check in and they let me know that alas, Yes, you did hear that. Yes, Overseas, the Republicans are actually trying to quibble about the definition of terror. And yes, Republican speakers are actually pretending Colin Powell supports Obama due to race, when they and we heard him say that he has decided, after the weeks of national financial crisis, Obama passes the CIC test. Too impressive so we must dismiss it with race.
Thank goodness Zbig spoke so definitively to Joe Scar this morning. Declared that Powell had singularly put an end to any doubts on Obama's readiness. Zbig said simply and clearly that Powell had endorsed his capability to serve as president. Zbig did so one year ago already.
So glad Keith is here to also highlight the-- wait a sec -- am I seeing a McCarthyite flashback? Are those snarling crowds at a Wallace rally? Who is the real American? -- similarities between now and then.
So glad Keith is there to report accurately on the disappointing moves of the Bush-Cheney administration and suggest strongly that we resist signing on for more of the depths of dumbed-down Theocratic Rule. To help us resist falling sway to the Republican dream prescription-- Us and Them. Good v. Evil. Hide out in your homes by the TV. Then go to the hospital to die. The simple and violent Republican way.
No thanks. Republicans R Not Us. They're the real un-American Country Club Elites and the 95% of us, a.k.a. The Rest, would like to work up different ways to approach our future. In a world of dwindling natural resources, we'd like to push aggressively on domestic development of alternative energy democratically distributed. We want that domestic energy saving car and high speed mass transit as a national defense priority-- to free us from hogging so much oil in the world and incurring others' resentment.
So whew, so thrilled to have dear Keith and Rachel, both a bit more conservative than I am, but such courteous word smiths that it is a delight to follow the news with them.
