Why isnt Obama setting the record straight on this 250k tax?
All we keep hearing from republicans are how small businesses making over 250k will have to pay higher taxes. They are giving the impression that businesses will be unable to operate because they will be taxed BEFORE writeoffs, this simply isnt so and I have yet to hear anyone set the record straight on this.

Businesses are taxed on PROFIT not gross income. If a small business is PROFITING over 250K and they know they will have to pay a higher percentage of tax guess what they do? They will purchase more equipment, hire more employees, etc. Which in turn HELPS the economy.

I am one of those small business owners. During the Clinton years WHEN TAXES WERE HIGHER I was making over 500k a year and yes, it sucked bad paying the taxes I paid. When you're in that situation you look for every writeoff possible and 90% of that means spending money. I really believe this is one of many reasons we had a good economy under Clinton. On a side note, under Bush my business is lucky to make a tenth of what I was making before.

1. You must not be watching his speeches
Becuase he addresses this every single time, and has been for months.

8. I know...
I've been here for about 7 years and this would be the day I got tombstoned. Except Skinner is still trying to verify whether my recent donation went through. I'll likely be tombstoned once that clears, LOL.

4. He has, time and time again...
I was floored during the last debate when he spelled everything out so clearly, and McCain rattled on as if he didn't hear a word Obama had said.

Not to mention, it would cost approx. 3 million dollars to buy a company that nets $250k a year.

In that case, Joe WOULD be rich.

10. I think people hear the words "net" and "gross" and zone out. I agree with you
about what small businesses do to lower their profits--they hire more employees, whose salaries are deductible to the business.

15. The point is repugs are spreading this BS big time
And there hasnt been much to counter it. This issue may not be of concern to you but I've been hearing it constantly from other business owners I work with, most have the impression their gross income will be taxed. So now I'm a freeper for bringing this up?

18. What does Obama have to do to get you to accept his plan?
I've always said, you can lead a Republican to water but you can't make him THINK.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

There's nothing any of us can to to make the RW stop telling blatant LIES. Fortunately, we pay attention to what is going on so we know they are lying.

22. Business people know how they are taxed
Why would ANYONE think they would now be taxed on their GROSS income? Even individuals aren't taxed on GROSS income. And yes, I am a partner in a small business.

25. Unfortunately he could repeat this aud nauseum and it wouldn't matter
to the knuckle draggers. As a business owner in a red state, I can sympathize. I hear the same crap from my vendors.
