Jonathan Capehart: Powell uses 'Powell doctrine' in his endorsement of Obama
Jonathan is dead on in his analysis where Colin Powell uses an overwhelming force of facts and principled positions to destroy the GOP.

Snippet:

In his unambiguous endorsement of Barack Obama on "Meet The Press" this morning, former Secretary of State Colin Powell utilized one of the major tenets of the Powell Doctrine: overwhelming force. This wartime edict, employed by Gen. Powell in the first Gulf War, is meant to assure the demolition or capitulation of one's enemy. In a seven-minute torrent of clear, concise and blunt language, Powell used his eponymous principle to divorce himself from his party and the tactics of the campaign run by his longtime friend and Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain.

1. Excellent.
Spot on. I saw the Pat Buchanan disgrace from Hardball this morning on youtube and was appalled at the depths to which this discredited party will sink to. Powell left no room for any talk of race in this endorsement and those who peddle such nonsense show their own bigotry.

:applause:

"There was no damage done. He has only done this because he is a black man. We will crush the Democrat infidels."

3. Powell Doctrine 101 - for those who many be too young to know it
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 10:01 AM by Essene
    1. do not go to war without a clear & honest mission

    2. do not go to war without an exit plan

    3. do not go to war without overwhelming force

Some more truth about Colin Powell... a black kid from the bronx, son of Jamaican immigrants.

Powell represents the Pentagon types who actually HATE war and try to avoid it.
  • Anti-torture.
  • Anti-Gitmo.
  • Pro-diplomacy.
  • Very vocal on the Darfur genocide
  • Spoke out on Katrina.
  • Hates neocons... calls them "f***cking crazies"
  • Pro-choice & Pro-affirmative action.

HE CALLED FOR A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION INTO THE WHITE HOUSE & CIA OVER WHO LIED ABOUT WMDS IN IRAQ.

Rather than screaming that he's a "war criminal," we should be supporting him as a thoughtful moderate Republican.
