7 close Senate races that need our help!! Links included
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 10:00 AM by catgirl
We can get to 60+. Please donate to these campaigns! Here are the 7 close races that can go either way.

Alaska: Mark Begich (D) holds a small lead against corrupt Ted Stevens. It's close though.
http://www.begich.com/

Georgia: Jim Martin (D) has a chance to pick off Saxby Chambliss, who is running a nasty campaign. Jim is slightly behind.

Kentucky: Bruce Lunsford (d) may cause a huge upset here! Minority Leader Mitch McConell who was expected to easily win, is only
4 pts up in the latest poll. Help Bruce!

Mississippi: Former Governor Ronnie Musgrove (D) is running close and can win this one. Please donate.
http://musgroveforsenate.net/

Minnesota: Al Franken (D) is ahead of Norm Coleman. (Todd Palin is in MN campaigning for him.) Let's win this one!

North Carolina: Kay Hagan (D) is ahead of Elizabeth Dole. Dole is out there spreading the news that Kay has "Godless" friends. We won't
stand for these smears.

Oregon: Jeff Merkley (D) is in a neck and neck battle with Gordon Smith. It could go either way.

5. Minnesota House Race: Remove Michele Bachman
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 10:24 AM by JPZenger
Over $500,000 poured into the campaign of Michele Bachman's opponent's campaign over the weekend. Here's a good description of how she received the Republican nonimation, and how the money was much needed to fill a large gap in funding.

6. Her comments turned that race around completely

And many DUers donated! That inspired me to start this project. It's amazing how we can make such a huge
difference when we target close races. We can get a filibuster proof senate by helping to tip these races our
way.

I'm running out now, but I'll start a similar thread with close House races when I get back if one hasn't been
started yet.

7. K & R -- these close senate races are MORE important, together, than ...
supporting the members of the House (even to get disgusting Bachman out), PLUS all the contested Governorship races, plus ALL the safe senate races COMBINED. THERE SHOULD BE MUCH MORE FOCUS ON THESE AT DU -- they aren't as central as Obama, but if he wins (a tad likely I think it's realistic to say), the number of Democrats in the Senate will be a line in the sand defining how far he can go in terms of reforms. Each seat of the close ones is almost like a Supreme Court spot (at least for that period).

10. I totally agree!

So far I've donated to Hagan, Franken and Martin. If we all pick a few to donate to, we can help steer
these races.

I think Obama has started to advertise heavily in GA with the same thoughts you have. He probably
won't take Georgia, but his coattails may help Martin surge ahead (and get closer to the magic 60).

11. Thanks for the link.... I need to add Rick Noriega (Texas)

He's getting a smear job because he's closing the gap. He is only 6 pts behind and needs
contributions ASAP. Noriega's opponent John Cornyn is a close ally of George Bush, and
his approval rating is dropping. Noriega can win this! He's surging, but he needs $ NOW!

13. Oh yeah
So is Johann he work with Bush. Left Nebraska to be with Bush and left Bush and come back home. Thanks but NO thanks it doesn't work that way buddy. He didn't do anything for us back home so he can stay with Bush. But Scott Kleeb now he a good man, and he is very cute too. Met Scott Kleeb in my hometown it was cool, wish I had a camcra with me.

17. It's not getting much press, is it?

Don't know the answer, but the longer it drags on, the worse it is for Stevens.
