Bill Clinton's 100 yards away
He's at the high school across the street, getting out the vote (early voting here started yesterday). I listened for a while from my patio. I kind of wish I'd gone, but I spent hours today canvassing and would have had to stand around, with whiny, short-attentioned span kid, for four hours in the heat. As it was the line stretched for blocks. I've seen him before, but it's been a while.

Good lord almighty, what a monster orator this guy could be! his real gift is in taking complex things and breaking them down so that my chihuahua could explain them to you. He just explained the financial crisis on Wall Street, every nuance, in terms that a child could understand. I'll be back in five, because I want to listen to a bit more; I just wanted to share!

10. He's coming to Reno tomorrow
and I saw him during the primaries - got to shake his hand :)

I like the description you gave in your OP - he was quite impressive when I saw him earlier this year. He has a knack for boiling complex things it down.

2. Thanks.
Having had a few drinks with him (just the two of us and SS at Wild Ginger, Seattle), his ability to break it down and convey it is as fine as anyone's I have ever met.

3. He really is a great speaker..
I've worked at two shows where he spoke. I swear if feels like he's speaking to you and you alone even if there are 2000 people around you.

5. He is a very effective speaker...
...and knows how to connect with ordinary people, but his real gift is to convincingly feign sincerity and truthfulness while engaged in deception.

I don't think we've ever had a president better at that than the Big Dog.

7. I canvassed LV yesterday for the Drive for Change (CA)
And they told us Bill would be there today but I couldn't stay. I have SUCH RESPECT for canvassing after yesterday in the LV sun all day. I just got home and I am exhausted.

8. Thank you VERY much.
The last couple of weekends, if I show up late on Sunday, the people from California have already finished most of my district! And to think: you canvassed after it had cooled down some for the fall!

9. I couldn't canvass today
My ride back was leaving at noon so I had to leave but to tell the truth I wouldn't have been able to walk another mile today. At 62 I'm not in the shape I once was, but we hit every house on our list yesterday. The wonderful news was that the little boy that was kidnapped was found alive not too far from my hotel last night and many prayers were answered.

11. So did I...
...:) I just returned home to Ca. I only canvassed yesterday and last Saturday, but I'm exhausted. It really is a good experience, but strenuous. I wanted to stay to see Clinton, but had to get home for work. Darn. :)
