POWELL: "...Everybody thought (the Iraq War) was terrific. And it was terrific."
Edited on Sun Oct-19-08 06:09 PM by A-Schwarzenegger
Thanks for the helpful & ringing endorsement, Mr. Powell, but, lest we forget & make the same insane & evil choices again...

"I wanted to avoid a war. The president agreed with me."

President Bush wanted to avoid a war?

"... When the president made the decision, I supported that decision. And I've never blinked from that. I've never said I didn't support a decision to go to war."

Powell still supports President Bush's decision to go to war?

"And the war looked great until the 9th of April, when the statue fell, everybody thought it was terrific. And it was terrific."

It was great and terrific, and everybody thought so?

2. Did he just fall off that path to redemption I hear everybody
talking about?

6. I was encouraged by the many "not so fasts" on Skinner's thread.

I still find it possible to hold two thoughts
in my old mind at the same time still:
endorsement, good;
redeemed & forgiven, not so much.

10. I said it before on another thread,
I'll leave the forgiveness and redemption to those who were the most injured by his decisions, the dead, injured, and displaced.

3. Powell's usefulness is to sway those from the right.
They still respect him, even though those of us on the left realized he was a shill a long time ago.

But for those on the right, his endorsement is very problematic.

He is respected by them and this will either assuage their fears about Obama's readiness to be commander in chief, or they will dismiss him entirely because of his race.

It further isolates the Republicans for McCain as racists and everyone else is for Obama.

4. Oh, I have not forgotten....
his performance at the UN holding his little vial and hawking the immoral and illegal war in iraq, nor did the statements you posted go unnoticed by me this morning either.

I don't do revisionist history, I stick with the facts, but if the endorsement of Obama by powell gets him a few more low info voters, I'm all for it.

7. I remember well....but right now, this subject is a distraction
to electing Barack Obama, if you know what I mean.

Those who won't forgive and forget Powell for this stuff, won't.

But Barack Obama is not Colin Powell.....sooooo, this is no more advantageous to our prize,
than is William Ayers.

8. Yes, it's upsetting to those who cannot hold two thoughts in their minds at once.
Don't try it at home or on the road.
