DEMOCRAT President Barack Obama, will have presidential powers far beyond anything any previous Democratic President has ever had.

Coz see, George W. bUsh didn't grab all that power for George W. bUsh; George W. bUsh grabbed all that power for the OFFICE.

And whomever holds that office.

Starting to see now why George W. bUsh's power grab was a very bad thing, rightwingnuts?

An Obama Presidency would have massive never-before-seen Dem presidential powers...THANKS TO GEORGE W. bUSH.

You truly are the dumbest and most short-sighted MFers. This is what happens when you put party uber alles, dipshits.

You betcha.

1. I've tried that line of reasoning for years with my right wing friends and coworkers
Whenever I've complained about Bush's power grabs, I've been given the same old tired speech about it's necessary, protecting Americans, yada, yada, yada. I always ask them: "How comfortable are you with a President Hillary, Kucinich or Obama having that kind of power?"

They always change the subject.

3. Yep, me too, and posted numerous times here. But such short-sighted people simply cannot
or will not look beyond their own noses.

I don't want Obama to have that amount of power.

I don't want ANYONE, including Jesus if he were silly enough to come back here, to have that amount of power.

But then that's me being "anti-American" and "unpatriotic" and "disloyal to my party"...if I were a republican.

8. Realistically, I know that ANY President will be reticent to relinquish any power
but I do think Obama would be far more likely to be interested in restoring the balance of power than would McSame.

4. Me too
I guise they'll have to learn the hard way.

It'll be funny, though, watching them bitch and complain when the leaders of Operation Rescue and the Club for Growth suddenly find themselves on the No Fly List.

5. I'll give this a little K&R.
Hope those righties do think about it for a while.

I'd love it if those expanded rights could be used to prosecute Bush and Cheney for their war crimes.

And not be tempted by the power-grab fortress that Dubya and Cheney have erected around the White House. First two moves I'd like to see is a repudiation of signing statements as a means to bypass the legislative branch, and a restoration of power and independence to the FISA court.

10. So was another rightwingnut who started illegal unprovoked invasions and
occupations by invoking God, Christianity and national defense. They were expecting that permanent majority too.

(An aside for the freepers; if ya think I'm only invoking the "Hitler" thing, maybe you should brush up a wee bit more on your knowledge of history. Start with a better knowledge of your own country and work outwards from there.)

12. Just like they thought "punishing" FDR Democrats with Presidential term limits
wouldn't end up kicking them in the ass when it came to them wanting a third term of reagan worship.

13. Make no mistake, the Rs are going to suddenly ...
find religion on seperations of powers, and states rights - and that there are other constitutional amendments beyond the fourth.
