Damned Republicans! I am so p*ssed off right now!
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 11:49 PM by demdog78
My repuke step father sent me the "Ayers Email" and I politely responded with:

"Please... Really... Do we have to go there? Do we? I mean, I would list off all of McCain's connections, including Bill Ayers & The Keating 5, but my laptop won't last that long. Please... This is too funny."

Then he sent me this. I am so pissed right now. I have NEVER gone personal with any of our political conversations.

"This guy is a terrorist and should have been shot for what he did. Ayers himself said He was guilty as sin and free as a bird mocking the US Justice System for getting off on a technicality. If you support this guy you are way off the path. Just think if one of those bombs killed your mother and sister would you feel the same about him. This is what I was talking about and the legal system. And what do they do to punish him- They make him a professor so he can spread his left communist views to young people who come to get an education but are brainwashed. The bottom line is GOD will have the last say concerning Mr Ayers. Lincoln said YOU CAN FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, AND SOME OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME. BUT YOU CAN'T FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME. McCain's skeletons are even in the same solar system as this loser."

I want to tell him off so bad right now... You know, I am extremely over protective of my mother and sister. My mom was forty when she had her, and so Autumn is more like a daughter to me than anything else. Not to mention, there were so many complications with her when she was a baby... I am so furious!

I told him he owes me an apology and to stop watching fox noise... You know... he has two college degrees; he was a history teacher, and now he's a cop.

How can people be so damned stupid?! Sorry for the rant, but if I take it all out on him I won't be able to visit before christmas. Thanks for letting me vent...

3. You'll be ok. And so will we.
Just tell him next time that this is what makes our country great...we can disagree on principle but still remain friends...and then try to be nice. His mind can't be changed. Remember, every time you get angry, plaque builds up in your arteries. You're letting him drive you closer to a stroke or heart attack. Now where will that leave you? You won't be able to enjoy the next 8 years!!!! :loveya:

5. Ask your Dad how many innocent people were killed by Weather Underground bombs
Like McCain, he will likely be surprised by the answer.

Zero.

8. He would have no idea.
He only knows what he sees from Fox News and occasionally CNN. Sad that a former History Professor would be so clueless. OH... He's not my Dad, he's my step dad. I already convinced my father to vote for Obama.

6. What I'm going to recommend will entirely be criticized--
and I know it, but it's something you have to do with some family members with whom you just must live.

See the email?

Delete it.

I know. It isn't the way you think about it when you're passionate about something, and it feels wrong. Doesn't matter. Responding by email won't do the thing you need to get done, and it won't happen in three weeks, anyway. But this is abut him, not you That shell he has was built up over a lifetime and made resistant to sense. A lifetime. A lifetime of thinking liberals are....well, what did Matthews tapdance Michelle Bachman into damn near saying?

We're not American. And without knowing any better, Obama is, how do I say this obliquely? Not his kind of American, probably, even if he wasn't a Democrat? He isn't thinking logically, or he'd know, pretty much without a doubt, that if there was something entirely bad, gross, disqualifying about the man, people would have picked up on it right away and said "No sale." He shouldn't have made it out of the primaries if there was something crazy, radical and wrong with him. Not anything he's saying is actually Communist--to your stepfather, "Communist" is just a bad word. It's just "Pinko" or "Douche" to him--and has nothing to do with Stalin or Lenin, or Marx. Or ideology or ideas even. It just means he's preconditioned to not like him-if Obama's the liberal...he doesn't like him. Ergo--Commie. History degree aside, I have found that people will forget their education as fast as they "lose their religion" (in the figurative, colloquial sense) when it comes to their cherished notions being challenged.

So step back from the dialogue.

A nice touch is saying "May the best man win." And he can still believe it's his guy. And you can still know it's yours. And then you don't take it out on him, he isn't disrespecting you, and you can have a tolerable Christmas.

And for a present--what size Obama t-shirt do you reckon he'd fit?

11. You don't defend Ayers. That's what they want you to do. Just bring up Palin.
Change the subject and bring up Palin. Let him try to defend her goofy answers, her corruption, her refusal to give the media a press conference like every single VP in the TV age has done... That's what you do.

12. Your repuke stepfather is going to be very very sad the day after the election.
Just keep that in mind. Use your pissed-off-ness in your volunteer work for Obama, and know that your stepfather will be on the losing side in a couple of weeks. And then he'll be reeeeeaaaallly quiet.
